1975 Mini Near Complete Set PSA Graded

I have been working on a 75 mini PSA 8 or better graded set for about three years now. Am down to 3 cards that are low pop; #16 Tanana, 53 Giusti and 133 Driessen. Am currently losing steam in trying to finish and am looking for some advice. Should I stay the course and accept the fact it may be another year before I finish it, settle for 7s to get it finished, or sell the set as near complete and focus on my other registry addictions? If I were to sell, would eBay or an AH be the best bet? Any idea on value? Set is currently #14 on registry.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Mike

I know exactly how you feel, as I have also been working on my 75 mini set for 7 years now and still haven't finished it (just over 90%), but don't mind waiting for the right cards to come along. I had picked up a few cards with less than ideal eye appeal and regretted doing so afterwards, so i don't mind the wait. It will be that much sweeter this way when the completion date comes. Stick with it~you've come this far, you may as well see it through the end!

I agree with Tim. I get much more pleasure from removing a sub-par card from one of my sets than I do from acquiring a marginal card. I love the feeling that the average condition of the set has improved.

    Hiya Mike

When it really gets down to it, no one can really speak for you.

I've been working on a 67 card set for 10 years - PSA 8 - and some cards and nearly impossible centered. I'm waiting them out.

Think - what do you get when you finish the set? It's a personal satisfaction.

So, let's do a set like we're running a marathon rather than a sprint - and it'll be done when it's done.

While waiting for those few cards? I agree with anyone who says: "start something else."

Good luck - and when you're done - the first beer is on me at the next National!

edit: I apologize that I can't give you any advice about selling - have never done that in the 25 years of collecting.

I would be patient and finish the set in PSA 8. The cards will eventually surface and it would be a VERY nice accomplishment to complete it!

Would not sell it, but putting it on ebay with a reserve would be the way I would go if I were to sell it.

I would want to see it through, especially as close as you are.

I would get my collection at 100% first. Check that off the list! Then forever upgrade your set. Sell your lesser grades as you upgrade.

My advice is, if the fun of the chase is gone on the final 3 sell but if the excitement is still there to search them out you have to see it through. Doug
