Kellogg's and Curling?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how PSA grades Kellogg's cards that Have a slight Bow or Curl to them?

Does it affect the grade?

Is there any way to safely correct the problem...

Thanx for your Help Jeff

Jeff, if the curling is not severe PSA won't penalize the card. At least that's been my experience. Putting them in Card Saver I's and putting some very heavy weights on top of them does seem to help a bit after weeks have passed. I hope that helps.

Have you registered your set yet?
  • Gemmint,

Thanks for your Help I have a 70 and 74 Kellogg's Registered (Jeff's Frosted flake Fun).... I have a complete set of 74's which appear very nice except for a slight curl that I am thinking of submitting....

Just beware when you put the heavy weights on them. I used an 86 Mustang on mine and didn't fare too well...image

FB, did the cards crack your Mustang?

My name is Frank and I'm a card-aholic...

It started early.... At first it was just some frosted flakes... But, pretty soon, Sunday couldn't come fast enough... I'd help put away the groceries just to get to the Pop-Tart box first!!! I didn't think my mom suspected at the time, but now I realize that she was an enabler...

And yes... I have complete sets of 72 Kelloggs and the 72 ATG set.

God, its a relief to finally get this out...image

And you're a better man for it!!

This is a very serious admission by the way. It could bring down the FAB FIVE.

    Yup... Kellogg's...

And you're right... the Fab Five have seen alcoholism, tax evasion, drug use, transvestism, farm animals and even transvestite farm animals. Till now we've always been able to bounce back. But, Kellogg's...

This could be the big one...

  • Unquestionably a better man for the admission.

I wonder just how many read our Kelloggs posts and say to themselves, "If only I had the courage to step forward and admit my fondness for these multi-dimensional gems"

Perhaps your courage will inspire others......................

FB - too funny image. The Kellogg's turned my life around, but then I'm the exception. It's sort of like shock treatment.
  • I know it's off topic, but Kellogg's cards curl because they want to. They curl because the RIBBED plastic on the surface ages differently than the paper it is sticking too. They will keep curling and roll up on themselves depending on the space they have. In most cases, they've been like that for many years. Now you come along and want to flatten them out. Depending on how badly they've curled, the cards aren't going to react very well to this. Something has to give, and what gives is the plastic. Cracks may develop, and they may develop very quickly. Cards with a very minor curl to them probably won't have any problem. If you're not sure, put a few commons from a curled set into a Card Saver type of holder, put enough weight on them to flatten, and leave them sit for a couple weeks. They could be just fine, or you could be accusing somebody in your house of switching your cards.
