Bad 84 Football Box on Ebay

Some of you may remember a couple months ago I bought a 1984 Topps football wax box on Ebay and sent it to BBCE for authentication. Steve did not like the way the seals looked and would not authenticate the box. The seller just relisted the box. The seller didn't hesitate to give me a refund but I ended up eating over $20 in shipping and insurance fees. I wanted to let you all know so hopefully no one from here will buy it.

<< <i>Seller admits the box was returned but says the box is good. Claims a relative (who has now passed away) purchased the box in 1984 and it has been stored in his parents attic sense then. >>
When I received the box I thought the packs looked good. I sent it to BBCE about a week after I received the box. I don't remember Steve's exact wording but he said something like he didn't like the seals and roller marks because they weren't consistent with what he is used to seeing. He said he wouldn't put his name on the box because of that.
I'm glad to see the seller pulled the auction. I will keep watching to see if it pops up again with this seller or a different seller.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
<< <i>It is possible that the box is good~Steve will err on the side of caution, but that doesn't necessarily mean the packs are NG. >>
That is possible but knowing that Steve turned it down once I doubt that anyone here is willing to take a chance on the box.

I'd agree. The way to tell for sure would be to open a pack or two. If there is any doubt, opening a couple packs would confirm things one way or another.
