So I was expecting this to come all day at work today. It took a while but UPS dropped it off around 4pm. Inside is my unopened whale from the past year and a half (since I started getting into unopened collecting). I wanted to have some fun and see if someone can guess what the unopened box is before I post pics. There's a few of you who definitively know what it is because I told you I bought it so you are out. No prizes for the winner Just trying to have some fun. So let's play... guess what's in the box!

Bo knows football! I have a 1981 FB rack box from BBCE. Pictured are a pair of 88 Topps FB rack boxes. If anyone has a line on any 82-87 FB rack boxes let me know, so I can fill in the gap Also pictured, a very clean 1980 Topps BB wax box.
Thank you to CPAMike for putting "dibs" on this with Steve for me at National as I was thousands of miles away in Washington (state). We talked about this box specifically before National and he knew how badly I had been wanting to get this for my collection. So, Mike, thanks for being my proxy at the National and for all the great conversations and advice on unopened you have given me over the past year. Besides being one of the resident experts on unopened you are a great guy and I appreciate your friendship. A second shout out to Dustin (Doublestriker) for posting his 1980-81 Basketball wax box pick up on the forum. If you had not posted your "get" so quickly I am sure this box would have sold without me knowing of its existence here. Thanks also for replying to my PM inquiring about the details of the purchase (and also saving one for me to buy). Hope you enjoy your boxes. I don't think I got a chance to post on your thread, but that Dr. J 9 is absolutely awesome.
Anyway, here is my brand new 1980-81 Topps Basketball Box!

<< <i>That is an unbelievable box from BBCE!!! Congrats on all of it. That 80-81 box is stellar. I hope you get a ton of enjoyment out of it! >>

I just know you dig your hoops, and my first thought was a 61F empty box. I know Dustin got one of those. But when I realized it was a full box, it had to be 80/81 or 86/87. We both missed out on that box last year. I think it was 1000-1200 on BST, and while I hesitated to do math and consult budget and funds, it was gone.
Stoked you got this one.
Great score!

Jim--You are right on about me and basketball. While I love my unopened baseball and football, basketball is my favorite sport and the only reason I don't have more unopened there is because of the lack of 80's products out there (no boxes between 82-85) and the prices (astronomical for 86 Fleer and a bit overpriced IMO for 87 and 88). So 1980-81 has been on my wish list for a while. I seem to remember somebody sold 4 or 6 boxes BBCE boxes on BST last year for around $2500 right on the heels of BBCE selling out their box for at or around the same price (I think it was slightly below). I would love to own a 1986 or 1961 Fleer box but those would be way out of my budget range. Someday
Still hunting...
Were those 88 Rack boxes from Ebay? The third box of the lot available was written on IIRC
Do you have 81 Basketball in East, West, and MidWest? That would be a cool trifecta
The 80/81T Bkb is clean, clean, clean!
The 80T BB is perfect!
Congratulations on some great acquisitions.
Stone193--I am very fired up for the 80-81 BK Box. I was buying it sight unseen, I was hoping for as much as I was spending that the box would be in good shape. It does not disappoint I was pleasantly surprised with how sharp the 1980 BB Wax Box looks. It may be in better shape than the one I already owned and I thought that one was sharp!
Baz518--Thank you. I have been hunting for this 80-81 box since I got back into collecting. I collect baseball, football and basketball and hoops is my favorite sport. I would love to own a 1986 Fleer box, but unless I get into a time machine I don't see that happening. I think the Bird/Magic/Erving card is one of the underrated iconic cards in any sport so I am very happy to have this box to commemorate that card. Now I have to find a quality looking PSA 9 Bird/Magic card to add to the collection!
Did I help fund this purchase with the boxes and wax trays you just sold me, lol... AWESOME BOX!
