1978 Topps Baseball Nolan Ryan PSA 9

This particular baseball card is notoriously difficult to find graded as a PSA 9. Any thoughts?

Old flip, centered a bit high T/B but a sharp card.

Nice card. Top to bottom centering as well as a tilt is why I'm guessing it graded a 9. That's also an old flip. I wonder if that would grade the same nowadays. I have heard in the past that there was somewhat more lieniency back then.

would wait.. don't see that pulling an 8 today.. like 7 due to the poor centering

My thoughts exactly. I totally agree.

Definitely would still grade a straight 8 today, if not a 9. PSA likes cards centered high, but slight tilt bothers me, visually. I'd wait for one with more eye appeal.

My 8 was graded within the last year just for comparison.

I'd agree with those who said wait-- just my opinion but that top/bottom centering and tilt combo make the card low-end in the eye appeal department for the grade, and for the same or a bit more money you can make a run at a really nice one. VCP scans show that there are definitely better 9s out there, and in time one will surface. Instead of $1000 for that 9, you can drop only $19.99 on a nice 7 and wait for a solid or high end 9...

That is a very nice PSA 8 Hallco.
