Ancient: Scarce Postumus

Ive been slow to share new purchases. This is close to 3 months old. Got it for the reverse and ended up getting it for a steal too.

AR Antoninianus
O: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG, Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right.
R: FIDES EXERCITVS Four military standards, hand on top of second, eagle on third.
Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Struck 266 A.D.

great piece, a lot of the crisis of the 3rd century stuff can be pretty rough looking, this has nice clear legends and a great portrait on the obverse, the reverse design with four military standards is unusual and cool

Great design, iI have always found Postumus and his "Gallo-Roman" breakaway empire very interesting. The fact that he did not die at the hands of Rome tells us what the state of the proper Roman Empire was at this time.
