Word is Mint had 700 tickets for today. The tickets are numbered
And the numbers stop at 580 which is perhaps 50-60 people ahead of me.
So the question is who got the 120 tickets.

The ANA didn't cause it. The people did when they stood in line.

So here's how this played out. I got to todays line at 12:30 am. There appeared to be approx. 500-600 already in line. Prior to my arrival the cops distributed red numbered tickets. I found out later that in front of me the tickets had a huge gap. One person had 520 then a gap to 585...then no one else had a ticket nor heard about a ticket. A few hours before line up, some guy walked all the way to the end of the line and said straighten the line, everybodys getting coins today. Later the lady with the bullhorn I think from the mint said they were doing 700 today. I thought that's cool because I knew there were not 700 in the line. A bit later there was a cop walking the line asking to see the tickets. The lady in front of me explained the situation to him about there being a gap and missing tickets of around 120 as it stopped ahead around 585 and then nobody else after that had a ticket and he seemed OK with that. Now, I was with a guy earlier that did cut the line moving up maybe 80 in front of me. He told me he was going to do it. He came back an hour later and said a cop kicked him back for not having one of these red tickets. By my math, the total run of 500 hit the line around 11:30 PM the night before. So I was late by an hour and a half. I knew it was going to be close as there were only 10 behind me and it didn't grow and many left.

Regardless, the lady said 700 so I thought they were going to do extras today. Got to the front and within 40 of entry and the same lady with the bull horn said the 500 for today are done, line up starts tonight at 7PM...I thought wtf, why'd she say 700 now 500?

As for the ana, hmmm, lets see, who was it that accepted orders for 100's of registrations for blank credentials from multiple dealers? How does that work? I'm curious.

The show has been described as the food fight scene from animal house, pretty accurate.

Would it have REALLY mattered since they were only going to give out 500 tickets a day anyway??

It seems to me, that ticket numbers 501-580 would simply have stepped out of line and carried on about their Coin Show business.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

there are lots of possibilities to change from 700 to 500. One guess is they had 700 on hand, but realized the plan all along was 500 and stuck with it. this is possible if they realized earlier on that today would be the last day... thus they stuck to the plan to only do 500 and have it over with. Perhaps they feared the backlash had they sold 700 instead of the planned 500. (what about the online people? would that mean 200 less for them?) There are lots of possibilities.

Yes, they know there are paid line sitters and are going "eh?" but look at the effort to advance mint 40k of these and appear to have the first batch ready to ship in a few days after the first order? (they are responding to complaints and making them more available and available quicker) When has a white hot item ever been out the door of the mint this fast? I even got my sclad sets by the slow boat shipping method already. This is a new record and a new standard of service.

Having known a few of the sales people, they would be offended if something "back door deal" were suggested for those 200. I'm 99.9999% sure there was an administrative decision to make it 700 then another to change it back to 500.

Didn't they cancel the 100 per day sales at the other locations , in the name of safety? Well I suppose they decided to make
more available to back door deals at the ANA. Sounds like real world business to me.

The real behind the scenes for what is happening is that the mint staff is seeing all the mad profits and decided to get into it!
First, they release less than the maximum.
THEN, they just cancel is all.

Finally, they just sell them, themselves, reimburse the mint's coffers for the retail amount, and pocket the rest.

Heck...if they can't make mules anymore, might as well find another way to profit.....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

...I wonder how many people who got 69's from PCGS, cracked them and walked them over to NGC for 70's???...not bashing but a legit inquiry and would be interesting to see how many submissions actually took place between both parties of the 1,500 coins.
