You guys are rough on this one....

a little patience......everything in this world has to be immediate these days?

as soon as you buy you expect to see multiple offers to buy your coins? or unlimited auctions on ebay?

as you can almost already tell - most of the FDI and Show Coins will be offered by the big boys.....as they rounded up most of them....and their preferred method of sale is usually direct

you have a high intrinsic value coin, about $265 at risk. Im not worried at all, especially with early orders locking in FS/ER, later orders yesterday afternoon not seeing their coins for over a month later.

Got my doubts about this one! The hype is dying VERY quickly for the Show labels. On the fence about canceling my 5. I hate to throw in a bunch more money for grading on top of issue price. The unlimited mintage angle my be throwing this one in limbo VERY early. Dunno............

<< <i>The hype is dying VERY quickly for the Show labels >>

The promotions haven't even started for these labels. To be followed by promotions of FS/ER coins.

IMO, there is much to come.

Why do I think this???? Those dealers aren't laying out that kind of money to acquire huge blocks of these coins to lose money.

Think about it. We still don't know the whole story......still developing.

Individual comfort level I suppose... Just comparing it to previous Mint issues the Kennedy seems to have been eagerly anticipated but for all the wrong reasons. Hope I'm wrong but I'm just not feeling it on this one.

I thought a first that I should get one... The longer I thought about it... The more I realized that
    1) I have never collected a Kennedy Half ... Never bought a raw book... Never bought a certified one.
    2) What in God's Green Earth would possess me to buy a gold example ?

I hope the Flippers make out well, that'll be the day I stand in line for 8 hours to buy a coin like that.

Not to shill for anyone, but Ian Russell is now on the BST buying at $125 over issue price, so for anyone on this thread who cancelled, maybe you should have waited. If you're about to cancel, check with him first....

    Just saying....
  • You're right should have waited but still have 1 and that is fine with me. Anyone else should sell them the window won't last long and something is better than nothing.

I didn't order any so I didn't waste any time on this offering.

I like the coin but I'll simply wait until the excitement dies down and try to buy one for a little over melt. I can wait and I see no value at all to a First Strikes holder as I buy the coin, not the misleading holder.

I'll enjoy watching all the angst over the orders - all while relaxing with an adult beverage.

This is an extremely popular issue. We don't know all the facts yet. There are only a few thousand coins (special label eligible) that will have a very high entry point for collectors $$$$.

The next round of "FS" and "ER" coins will be a cheaper entry point. IMO, depending on the number of 70's, probably at least a $1,700 to $2,200 coin in short order.

IMO, minting this to demand kills pretty much any true potential, but probably maximizes US Mint profit which gets returned to the US treasury... so we all win... right?! image

UHR was mint to demand as well. Didn't do much to kill that issue.

How is it, that putting more money into the US Treasury is a win for us?

Check the status on your not cancelled orders. My credit card hit for the full amount and the cancel box went POOF. So if you wanted to cancel and hesitated its too late now for some of you.

I don't know why anyone would compare a less than appealing design like this dual date Kennedy gold coin and use the beautifully designed UHR as its comparison. That is just wishful thinking, imo. This Kennedy piece has nothing to do with the UHR.

    Demand is the point.

Is the Kennedy as beautiful as the UHR - No.

Is it as popular. Could be.

If it is as popular, or close, a mintage of 80k-100k is not an issue. It will hold value.

Well, too late for me to cancel now... my orders are all in stock and reserved with the cancel box gone... That was fast.

I was at the ANA Show in Chicago today and got to see the three Kennedy products.

The Kennedy 2 coin Clad Set was on sale at 2 pm and there was a limit of 2 sets per customer at the US Mint counter.

I met two men who had stood in line (since 8 pm Wed night) to purchase the Gold Kennedy coins. They let me hold and view the coins which were beautiful. I am looking forward to receiving my coin next week.

On display at the US Mint site was the 4 coin Kennedy set with the four finishes. It is a dazzling set; especially the reverse proof. I am looking forward to owning this set.
You don't want to miss this set at $99.95!

You're nuts to cancel! Sell to Ian for $125 per. Just made an easy $625. No grading costs, no selling hastles, no brainer!

Easy to say now after Ian started buying but with credit cards already getting hit ( I knew it wouldn't take long) and prior to Ian's buy the immediate sale situation was unclear and some of us can't tie up $6k without knowing where to go with them.

What's nuts is people paying a premium for the mis-named First Strike label.

I almost ordered 1 on Aug. 5 evening but decided not to.
I changed my mind last night (Aug. 6) and placed 1 coin in the cart but did not follow through. Today, I emptied the cart knowing that the mintage may be as high as 75K. I will buy the silver set just to get the Reverse proof for fun. Not interested in Kennedy gold anymore. Sorry Mint. image

First I wanted to get one, then after ordering one, I thought the better of it.

One: I do not collect Kennedy Halves.
Two: There is no limit to the amount minted.
Three: Absolutely no reason to add one to my collection !

Not that it really matters, but what is the cutoff date for the Gold Kennedy FS and the Clad Half Dollar Set FS?
