FINALLY, I got a real card scanner. Look at my Topps Gretzky...

My FIRST scan, lol...

I haven't laid eyes on it for a few years but I remember when I bought it just like yesterday...

wow - not even sure what i'd suggest is holding that thing back

you should resub it for a bump

My first thought exactly. If that were in a 10 holder I wouldn't have flinched

I need to sub a few cards. I have been collecting 1975-1989 PSA 10's and 9's for about 4-5 years now. I know this Gretzky is nice. I'd like to sub a few others...

    Nice.

You will have to play with the settings to get the scans as true to life as possible. Right now the scan seems a little washed out.

collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.

looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started

That's a beautiful card and one of the nicest 9s I've seen. I imagine PSA will not bump it because of the spot on the back.

I would consider SGC on this one.

The oil drip in the logo is perfect (as are a lot of Topps) but on the OPC version it's a huge, huge, huge eyesore for me.

    What a beauty!
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Very nice! One of the strongest 9 grades I've seen for the card.

I agree with Matt in that you need to play with the scanner software settings to make the colors more vibrant and true to life.

    Agree Matt

    Morning guys

Just a point for those who use photobucket e.g.

The first scan is great, but if you like the second one better? That's all I did was play with the contrast and brightness when I attached it to photobucket.

  • Thank you everyone for the kind words about my Gretzky and Mike, nice work on making the scan look better. I am working on the V33's settings to get achieve that "life like" look that a lot of other people get...

PS I think I am going to send it in just incase. Who knows, right?

One thing to try is scan it as a document instead of photo or vice versa to how you have it set now.

    Beautiful card!!

What keeps a card like that from being a 10??

It's a little oc left to right but not enough to keep it out of a 10 slab.

The only thing I'm seeing is the left upper corner on the reverse seems to show a slight bit of wear.

Edit: Also the left lower corner on the reverse shows a tiny hanging chad.

The biggie is the stain/spot on the back. PSA is super tough with this set....especially this card.

This is one of those rare instances I'd rather have it in an SGC slab.

Solid 9, And looks like a 10 to me.
But if I were picky I would point out the white dots going up the left of the image all the way down to the gretzky glove. And then a few speckles to the right same angle.
Corners and centering are a 10 for sure.
    Very nice.
    I havent seen a 9 this nice!
