2015 America the Beautiful Quarters Design Selections

Announced on the Mint site but without drawings. This Mint News Blog article shows the designs. LINK

The five coins to be issued for the upcoming year will feature the following sites:

Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska
Kisatchie National Forest in Louisiana
Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina
Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware
Saratoga National Historical Park in New York

The Egret on the Delaware quarter is nice too. I agree the other 3 are not as good at all.

I like the tunnel, but I don't think flowers actually grow in them.

The actual "madness" is composed of two parts:

1) Congress (not the US Mint) which legislates these things.

2) Reviewing and approving potential designs in pencil sketch form rather than actual sculpted form.

Time to go back to a nice depiction of Liberty. Time to say good bye to Jefferson, Washington, Lincoln and Roosevelt.

Possibly more than one



The flowers in the tunnel are from a dogwood tree, and the previous design had a cardinal crammed on the branch in place of some flowers. The state tree and bird for NC and VA are those 2. The artist crammed them in. The foreground tunnel could have been left off.

The blank space between the two yellow lines is too wide.

The Everglads Quarter ( 2014) and the Bombay Hook (2015) are too similar for my tastes. Couldn't they have done
something different for Delaware - like maybe a Snow Goose getting sucked into a C-17 Engine intake.

Disappointed with the Saratoga quarter. This is one I was looking forward to, as I have spent a lot of time in Saratoga over the years. But this is poor.

I LOVE the turkey quarter though, and I think it's now my favorite Park quarter.

Wouldn't it be more correct, and potentially less confusing for the unknowing, to say "Burgoyne Surrenders 1777" instead of "British" ???

That is an awful NY design IMO. I too like that bit of craziness in the turkey design....

Delaware's birds not that interesting just standing there, like the Florida coin better.

I like the Blue Ridge and Bombay Hook designs. Should look good on the pucks I'd think.
