PSA Grading of main Cards with Scratch-offs (Jim Brown Rookie, '81 Topps Wayne Gretzky)

Does anyone understand how the grading of cards are affected when the scratch off areas have been scratched vs. unscratched? I'm primarily wondering about primary cards in a set (not scratch and win cards) like the 1958 Jim Brown rookie (back of card) or the 1981 Topps Wayne Gretzky (nameplate area on front).

On then1980 Topps Hockey I think they lower it 2 grades so an otherwise 10 would be an 8 and so on..
I think the highest grade would be an 8 on those all though I think it's silly if you a nice card and it's scratched
perfect why not a mint 9?

I don't know about the Jim Brown rookie?

Good to know on the '81 Topps hockey. Thanks! Not many valuable cards in that set, but I was curious.

Given that the Brown rookie is a pricey card, I'm interested if anyone is familiar with grading of a scratched back (without any damage to the actual card).

If I recall correctly, there's no deduction on the 64T BB w/ scratched back as long as there's no damage. I don't see why it would be any different with the 58T FB.

Thanks Larkin. Bump for more opinions from the morning crew.

I'm eyeballing a raw Jim Brown RC in good shape but the back has been rubbed off.

The answer is.....there's no answer. If it's a strong card....6 or 8. I think the graders are not the same with this. Should not be like this; but it is.
