Lucky you, Davey. Hopefully I will visit Cooperstown soon for the first time.

    Hiya Davey

    Welcome!

I'm heading to the hall next year when I visit my brother.

    What do you collect?

Sure would be nice if you took some pics?

If you're not sure how to post them? Email them to mesablanca1110@yahoo.com and I'll post them.

Watched most of it on the tube. Fine class this year.

  • I just got back last night from my third trip to Cooperstown. Weather was great, crowd was huge and the events were great. Braves fans clearly ruled the roost among the crowd but plenty of my Cardinal Nation there too. We also had an invite to the Cardinals VIP party on Saturday night. Very small coctail party with Larussa, Herzog, Eckersley plus Bud Selig, Dave Duncan and Cardinals owner Bill Dewitt were there. I was fortunate that through my Cardinal connection, the team ran a spread of photos on their Facebook page (about 2/3 are mine).

The only people I met for autographs were Pete Rose and Tom Glavine. Also ran into Celeb Chef Graham Elliott too. I will get some photos uploaded soon but in the mean time, please feel free to check out the Cardinals Facebook album

Awesome pics - thanks for sharing!

Oh to be productive in my job for a few more years and then retire to look like Robin Yount with the long flowing hair....oh yeah!

  • Did you guys immediately realize torre left Steinbrenner out of his acceptance speech? Was it obvious?

And how do the autographs work? Complimentary like the NFL, set times, long lines? Were thinking of going next year.

    Sounds like a great time.

I'm just home today myself; as a Braves fan and Frank Thomas fanatic, I was on cloud 9. It was awesome to see nearly a third of the crowd there in support of our 3 Brave HOFers, and nothing beat the roaring ovation Hammerin' Hank received, but I was also excited to see such a large turnout for Big Frank, whom among the new inductees, easily received the most love, Chicago was well represented. I was shocked to see such a small Yankees turnout for Torre.

I didn't do any autographs this year because Big Frank had so much memorabilia to collect that I focused there, knowing I can get autos on HOF memorabilia later.

I'm sure the locals have mixed emotions about their town going from 2000 to 50,000+ in the blink of a weekend.

  • You guys prob recognize all the players but Rickey Henderson is I the first pic. It was a mob scene when he arrived. But he took time with everyone to take pics and chat. Robin yount is the second player. He was the most talkative of all the players I met. He spent 2 or 3 minutes chatting with me about the game and his career. Paul molitor is the next player. Very polite but seemed a little shy. He chatted for a bit but i never felt rushed. The last pic was during the parade of Ernie banks. Ernie seems to be getting quite frail at this point. He had a signing and had to be seated on a couch. There were lots of complaints because he was so slow. His signing began at 12:00. And they let people in 5 at a time and by 2:00 he had only signed for the first 10 people. There were over 90 people still in line. Glad I didn't get in that line
