Box rippin' time.
Today's victim was a 1989 Fleer Cello Baseball box purported by the seller (Dugout Wax on eBay) to be in the first run, thus containing all our favorite variations.
The first notable card I pulled was Randy Johnson. It was the common completely blacked out version, which immediately gave me a bad taste. I was certainly gearing up for a nastygram to Dugout. I figured I might as well finish the box.
With about five packs to go, I landed on Billy Ripken. It was the "FF" version. And in great condition. Landed two Griffeys as well.
After the box was complete, I found an article that the first Johnson versions were pulled quickly and could be found in Ripken "FF" boxes. So I was satisfied with that.
Here is a tip of the cap to Dugout Wax for an accurately described box. Well done. Will certainly use you again.
