Post a toned coin from a 1947 - 1958 Mint Set.
The paper/cardboard Mint Sets of 1947 - 1958 (no Mint Sets in 1950) produced a lot of toned coins. Most were blah toners, some were butt ugly toners, and some were wonderful looking toners. In general coins from the 1956 - 1958 range toned up more nicely than coins from the 1947 - 1953 range. Post a toned coin (or more than one) from a 1947 - 1958 Mint Set.
Here are some coins from a 1951 set that are examples of mediocre to ugly toning. I'll post some nicer ones from the set later on in the thread...

Maybe I should have posted some pretty coins to start off this thread, so other people would post, but I always assumed these boards were semi-educational, and to me it's important to show what a standard toned Mint Set specimen looks like.
Here are three coins from the same 1951 set as above. Here's a Roosevelt, IMO it's not technically nice enough to be worth slabbing, but I do find it attractive.
Here's one of the '51-S Washingtons. I sent it in to PCGS and it came back MS66.
Here's the other of the '51-S Franklins. I sent it in to PCGS and it came back MS65FBL.

I thought you did. It's what I like to see from Mint Sets. Not everything is blue and green
If I had a scan I'd share it.
Best wishes,
Eric

<< <i>REALLY?! Four and a half hours and NO ONE has posted a 1947 - 1958 Mint Set toned coin? Is there life on this web site? >>
Sorry, it was a pretty busy day at the office...

Good to know. I don't see the 66, but I'll keep looking at Washingtons until I do. Features always look too soft IMO, not well-defined enough. Washingtons have always been my hardest coin to grade.
