Opinions on a potential shill bid

Hi All,

I was following an auction and had set a snipe for it, but the snipe never went off because the price well exceeded what my snipe was set for. Below is a link to the auction. Does this look like it was shill bid by the person with no feedback, or am I just paying too much attention to it because the person (and ultimate winner) had no feedback? It initially looked like the zero feedback person was pushing the price up, but then it looks like he/she reinforced their top bid toward the end of the auction, which would lead me to believe the bidder could be legit.

What do you all think?

  • Looking at this auction by itself, I can see why you may think it is possible. But looking at his high & excellent feedback along with no other signs of shill bidding in his recent auctions I would say NO.

My brother signed up for an e-bay account to bid on a record and he didn't know what he was doing. He looked exactly like all the zero feedback bidders that we talk about here. So everyone starts somewhere and some of these people really are noobs who don't understand the clock.

Yeah, after the auction, it looked more like a legit new buyer. During the auction when the new bids were showing up, it made me scratch my head. Thanks for the responses, guys.
