After getting the 1909s indian, I now have all these in high grade(or at least my opinion of high grade). I prefer my copper brown, as you can see.

Thanks! I think the 1909 vdb is actually one of the minor DDO varieties, or so I've been told. I will upload a larger pic of it when I get home.

Closeup of 1909vdb. Is this the FS012.1? It has the die chips, and the die line going from the bowtie to Lincoln's throat

Nice matching brown set. I like it. Your DDO is the FS-1102 which is the second DDO for the year. Not much increase in value unless you have a high end red example.

Nice job! What a great year for small cents.

All that's left are a few proofs. An Indian and a couple of MPL's. Okay, the VDB may be a little tough.

lol....yeah, I have considered proofs and MPLs. I may just have to do something like that. :-) I already can say I have a ddo, and the s/s doesn't interest me nearly is much as the proofs. Yeah, probably no on the vdb proof.

I honestly don't remember when I purchased the 1909vdb....I've had it longer than any of the other coins in the picture, and have owned it before I even knew there was such a thing as a 1909 vdb ddo....so it was definitely by accident, not an intentional cherry pick. I posted it years ago, when someone mentioned that they thought it had the die markers of one of the ddos....so now it has been confirmed. what would you all grade it? And what kind of value over the regular 1909 vdb does it have?...I know its not much, just curious. :-)

Yes, same thing. The 1C just clarifies that it's the cent since the same numbers like 102 could be used for other denominations.

The die-1 has a better premium but people also like these die 2s, maybe because it's a first year and those early varieties are like the bookends for people that try collecting the varieties. I'd say it might double the value, if selling it should get attention from variety collectors.
I'd say that at least for me if I saw a bunch of 09 VDBs for sale at the going price and one was a DDO then I might buy it and call it a cherrypick

Awesome set. Might consider adding a 1909-S US-Philippines Centavo. It is a U.S. coin made at the S.F. Mint and they have a cool design.

i see where things possibly went awry. it is the various publications/organizations/sites using different designations

fs-102 - i've not seen this used with the 1102 before and just thought you made a typo

now i do understand, i think.

i do understand the old designations for a lot of varieties like this - FS 1c-012.1 aka fs-1102

i guess the list could get kind of ugly

ngc - vpxxx - last i checked they didn't do this variety. sent one in long ago to find out the hard way.
