Decisions...Decisions...Decisions **Card Sold**

So I bought this card 1-1/2 years ago for $800.

As a collector I don't want to sell it right now but with all the hype this is crazy what it sold for.

Thoughts?

    Sell!

I don't see him winning the next 2 years.

Very nice return on your investment..........congrats!
  • Sell! The only possible way he could be any hotter than right now is if the Cavs win a title THIS year.
  • Sell and buy the card back in a few years for a fraction of the amount.

Sell and buy as much "Durant" as you can now and I think you will be rewarded in the end.

Your call, but as I have learned it is best to strike while the "hype is hot", so to speak. You will have realized a decent profit,if you can sell it for that price. Consider a nice Jordan 86 Fleer, his legacy is cemented,Lebron has a ways to go. Never know on future injury or how well his supporting cast may be with him in Cleve.(he will need one). Regardless, the hype should sustain until at least the end of the year, and especially as opening season begins. I just feel his high prices right now reflect what he MAY achieve in the future, more than what he has achieved to this point-2 titles. Any money leftover from a possible Jordan rookie purchase, buy yourself some nice unopened product that you may have been considering. Just my opinion. Good luck.

This, except I would consider adding some positions on Anthony Davis. The only problem with Davis is whether his game is not exciting enough to translate to widespread popularity. Durant cards already had a large bump this past season. Davis cards can still be had for pretty reasonable prices.

I am a big fan of Lebron's game. If you can get that kind of return I would be inclined to sell the card now. Hard to believe it has a lot of room to grow from there. He would have to win another championship for much appreciation in my opinion. Congrats on being the owner of a great card!

Sell high, buy it back low. Most cards NEVER return to the value of their highest point, granted there are exceptions. Just think, if Stephen Strasburg throws three consecutive no hitters, his rookie parallels will still sell for less than they did when they first came out

His cards are priced high because people expect him to win a championships. So anything less and the prices will start to drop.

On the card that sold I wonder if that really is a chip on the bottom middle edge. The seller states they included a better picture but
there is definitely something there. If I paid 3K+ (wouldn't) for the card in a 10 I'd be more than a little unhappy with the card if indeed
it had a chip in the border.

Bingo!!! The Cavs are going to have to give up too much to win this year and the near future. Cards will be worth $800 again in 3-4 years. If you want it back, put aside $1,500 and get it back sooner.

If you purchase cards to collect and someday hand down to someone else, I guess you keep it. Personally there is nothing that is not for sale at the right price. The potential margin you can make on that card justifies moving it. I guess you need to determine if that LBJ card has reached its peak in popularity. Realistically you may never have the opportunity to move that card again at that price. Will it be the next 86 Fleer MJ card? Time will tell but there are no guarantees. I sold complete 86-87 Fleer basketball sets for $7.00 back in 89 and they were a tough sell. Hope you make the right choice!

sell now, these aren't going to run away even if he does win

sooner or later he WON'T win and they'll come back - almost guaranteed that if you sell now there will be another chance to buy back at same price OR LESS

In 2004, I purchased a 2000 Playoff Contenders Tom Brady RC for $50. Just prior to Super Bowl XLII, the card was selling for $2000. The card is currently selling for $1000. I have no regrets that I did not sell it.

Great sale, I'd plow it into Durnat cards or a couple unopened packs showing the Bird/magic rookie. Both a wonderful trade!
