Strangest Auction Results I've ever seen

I don't go looking for this stuff. In this case the Bob Lily HOF rookie was on my wantlist, and I missed the snipe while I was reading my daughter a bedtime story.
This is what I missed: PSA 6
This is what I decided not to bid on: PSA 4
In summary a PSA 6 sold for $96.00 on 07-13-14 and a PSA 4 sold for $102.50 four days later on 07-17-14.
I looked at the cards, and about all I can say is "Huh?" Any theories? Thanks.

Yeah, I know . But still, I actually won a football card for 5 or 6 dollars less than my snipe in this PWCC auction. Is it possible that there are people who only bid with PWCC, Probstein123, Just Collect, etc? (If so, I don't see why - eBay gives you historical information about sellers and buyer protection.) Or is this more likely schill bidding? I can't help but think if you need this card, you would've noticed a 6 sold for less only 4 days prior...... It doesn't add up. Someone has to beat the schill and say "Yeah, I'll pay that". I dropped out when i saw it over $60. And I didn't even think it was a nice 4 - I just don't get it. But my goal isn't to bash PWCC - we see this with the eBay consigners - I just can't completely make sense of it.

Yes, there are people that only bid with a few sellers. Yes, all of the consignors are more likely to be shilled.
I didn't look, but if there was a set break it's also likely that that attracted more attention than a one-off card. People will overpay on some of the cards to get a chunk of cards at once, hoping it balances out on the overall purchase.
I guess we can't figure it out today, but I appreciate the discussion.
<< <i>Thanks for the replies. Good theory on the set break - I searched "1963 Topps Football" and I don't think they had other cards from the set in this auction. I was hesitant to look at this, but I do see 1 bidder placed the majority of the bids. And it looks like the winner put in a high bid early and got nibbled up a bunch of times. I'm not an expert at interpreting these things, but I think that is what I see. >>
No problem, there's always something strange afoot on eBay It's been taking a day or so for completed listings to actually show up (not even this card shows up in PWCCs completed listings), so it may still have been a set break, but I'll have to check again tomorrow.
I found it interesting that there was only one common bidder between the two auctions, the one maxed at $20 on the PSA6 and $1.76 on the PSA4. Given the difference in grades, not totally surprising, but the underbidder on the PSA4 has 100% of his bids only on PWCC auctions (not much recent bid history) and the winner had 15%. I don't see anything indicating likely shilling.
Just kidding of course. I have 4 rugrats and love our time together. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

That is interesting. And I'm the common bidder - I often just put in a low early bid and then snipe at the end. I missed the 6, and when I saw where the 4 was headed, I dropped out. It kind of plays into the theory that there are people who don't even have an eBay search and they just look what PWCC is selling when they go live.

Yeah, it's hard to kick myself too much - its not like I was watching TV or something. One good thing came out of this... I started using Gixen. I've been resistant to a service, but this was the last straw - this is the third time I missed a snipe on the Lilly alone.
