On this day...

On this day, near a nothern Florida town on the Atlantic coast a roar began in the mid morning. The roar grew louder and louder, the ground began to shake, nearby buildings swayed and windows rattled like they would shatter. Birds and animals fled the area in fear for their lives, but humans had come to this town from all over the world. School children in the area had marched out of their classroms to stare up at the sky. A huge ball of fire and smoke rose up to the delight of those watching.

There were three men there that day that could not see the event as it took place, but these three men heard the sounds of metal groaning, they felt everything begin to shake around them. Then they felt an otherworldly roar under them, their bodies grew more and more heavy while they were shaken violently at the same time.

The world came to a stop at 9:32 am on July 16, 1969 as a 363 foot tall Saturn V rocket as powerful as an atomic bomb began a journey that would end on the surface of another world a few days later.

In honor of the anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11, post coins that show the Saturn V.
