1976 unopened wax box, 2 versions? ...to educate me and this board.

Obviously the status of my unopened collection is higher than my knowledge of said material. Ha.

Some know ive been slowly selling off my collection. I have a few 1976 unopened wax boxes, bbce. Looking at them I noticed there are at least 2 versions...the 10 cent box and the 15 cent box. It may seem an elementary question but what is the difference? One is slightly higher in thickness. One half to three quarter inches.

A very knowledgable member here has filled me in on some of the differences privately. Don't know if he wants his name advertised. But thank you.

I do know when I purchased them that no one pointed out the differences. And steve has not differentiated 10 vs 15 cent box on the bbce sticker. Also, in sales and auctions I'm not sure the difference is noted.

So what premium would one have over the other, were they released at the same time of the year, did opeechee do the same and any other interesting info we would enjoy?

Plus, i know how everyone hates an unopened discussion.

Thanks again,

A 15c box contains 108 additional cards, or the equivalent of nearly 11 additional full-sized packs so there should be a significant premium for a 15c box over a 10c box. A 15c pack contains 10 cards while a 10c pack contains only 7 cards.

Opc boxes are standard 8-card packs with 48 packs per box, unlike Topps which contained 36 packs.

That brings up another question...I have stacks of 1976 unopened packs I bought from bbce years ago. How do I know which packs I have? I know, measure them. But I have no frame of reference in which to compare. How many cards per pack, are there different packs?

If you don't know which version of the pack you have, the only way to know for certain is by weighing the packs. There is no way to distinguish the difference between the packs by looking at the wrapper.
