Robert J. Galiette's collection of $20 Liberty Double Eagles called the Gilded Age Collection is going to be sold by StacksBowers at the Summer ANA show.

The StacksBowers mini Summer ANA catalogue showcases this collection.

in this catalogue, Robert's autobiography of his collecting of coins from his youth to present is one of the finest writings i have ever read. It is a MUST read!!!

Get this catalogue, save it, and read Robert J. Galiette's story at least twice a year. Do so until the pages become brittle.

Also note one of our posters, Dave Wnuck was mentioned prominently in Galiette's article.

Oreville –I agree. I read the entire Gilded Age $20 Lib collection catalog within a day of its arrival. I especially liked the commentary from Mr. Galiette for each date and mint. Many of the Type 1 and 2 double eagles in the collection are within the Condition Census for the issue and were once in top collections including those of Bass, Pittman, Browning (Dallas Bank Collection) or the various shipwrecks.

Robert Galiette also coauthored a very nice book with Dave Bowers entitled “U.S. Liberty Head $20 Double Eagles: The Gilded Age of Coinage”. The book presents an historical perspective during the years of $20 Lib production, 1849 through 1907. Each chapter is a fascinating read and is filled with historical photos from the period.

Dave Wnuck got a huge shout out from Robert J. Galiette as the dealer who helped him most and for his acumen in the various auction viewing room.

I hope Dave Wnuck is sitting down when he reads it!
