jmaciu's summer pick-ups: Unopened, graded cards, and raw cards

I always enjoy everyone's updates of their collections. I thought I would pass on an update of mine today. First for the unopened:

Thanks to Tom Salem, Tim (grote15), and mygotta, I was able to pick-up OPC Baseball BBCE-wrapped wax boxes from 1983-1987, 1989, and 1991. The 1983 OPC box is special, in that it has a wax pack with a Ryne Sandberg Rookie showing. For a BBCE-wrapped OPC wax box run from 1979-1991, I just need 1981 (very tough), 1988, and 1990. I also got a 1983 Topps Michigan Test wax box from a sealed case from Tim, allowing me to complete a Topps wax box from a sealed case run from 1980-1983:

I also received on the mail today (7) 1981 OPC Baseball wax packs courtesy of PBR. With this, I now have an OPC Baseball wax pack run from 1971-1993:

Here is an updated picture of my display:

I also picked up some graded baseball cards: First are a trio of 1973 Topps Baseball PSA 8's that I picked up courtesy of Doug (svtPony95) and Tom Salem. These will help to upgrade my 1973 Topps raw/graded set.

Here is a trio of OPC HOF Rookie cards. The 1979 Ozzie came from cpettimd. The Winfield presents much better than its grade indicates:

Finally, here are some raw cards. The Perez cards are from svtPony95, while the Carew and Santo are courtesy of a raw set from Tom Salem.

    Great additions John!!!

I'm starting to become fond of the OPC, but trying to stay focused on Topps unless it's hockey.

Sharp stuff all the way around.

I think I'm gonna alter your nick.

But before I do, am I the only one who gets slightly mesmerized by the sight of different boxes scattered all over the floor?

Stupendous run you have going there, jmaciulevrai!

    Mmmmm.... O-Pee-Chee. image

Funny thing is, that 89 is easily the toughest box of the group.

    Great pick-ups!

Tom, I hope your luck is better with those than mine has been with OPC cut card cases. Based on my experiences, I'd rather have that one wax box. image

I have had mixed results to be honest. Think I have gone through about 5 or 6 cases. A couple of cases were great on centering and cards were still very sharp.
A couple other cases were not as good. Luck of the draw I guess. What I did notice though...

On a couple cards, 1 being the Gregg Jefferies rookie. In every case I opened, I never pulled more than 3 of them where on just about every other card I pulled around 20.

    Very odd!

Still got lucky a got a couple 10's image

    John,

Great update. I love seeing your pick ups. Great collection of unopened. I really like the OPC run. I've been thinking about getting some OPC too, but judging by the prices I might be late to that party.
