Or, for the opposite or rare packs, you could check out my current offering on ebay. ( I know; I'm shilling.)

Wow, that 1937 hockey pack is a ridiculously amazing find!

I still have a couple of the 1970s GAI packs from the Al Rosen Dearborn, MI, find. Great stuff!

If I ever want to extend my wax pack collection beyond 1960, it's gonna cost me a fortune.

Prices are definitely higher for pre-1960 packs when they come up for sale, which is seldom, but it's interesting to note that, percentage wise, at least, prices for 70s and early 80s unopened product have risen more significantly than those for earlier packs.

Tim, I'm guessing the reason is because so many people, especially newcomers to the unopened market, were priced out of the older stuff, so they went with the newer packs. Didn't take long for sellers to catch on and raise their prices.

I believe that since the 70s and 80s stuff have risen so dramatically in the past 2 years, that the 60s packs may start to rise during the next year.

  • Those are some awesome looking packs!!! I am afraid to buy any more of them as I had a problem with a PSA graded pack once, it was a 1972 Football Series 1 pack and the gum started to come out of the wax paper. Just wish, for a collecting stand point, that the gum was never put in the packs, however I know that these packs were never made for collecting or investment purposes.....

Not meant to be morbid, but are there any major collectors, who are known to have a significant horde of unopened, whose collections may come available if their families are not interested in holding?

    << <i>T206 Pack with card >>

That's pretty amazing right there--is there a way to determine if a card is actually in that pack by the packing? And if so, what kind of card it is?

  • Wonder what the T206 pack sold for?? That's awesome!

I've drank a lot of whiskey in my day so the old spaghetti block isn't what it used to be but I believe that there's ways to narrow it down based on the tax stamp but, even then, there are other T sets that are possible (non-baseball). But like I said, I'm going off a poor memory and some stuff I read on the interwebs.

    $3,500.

I think they left some money on the table. No way I would have listed that with Probstein.

    It states "POSSIBLE" T206.
Board member John Canfield (Doug's son) knows quite a bit about the packs that contained/did not contain a card back then. Jon, if you read this, what's your opinion?

That T206 wins the award for most awesome pack.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.
