Just completed a NEW autographed set...2014 Archives Deckle Edge

Only 12 cards, all numbered XX/25. Was fun to do as I was working on another much larger numbered set which I am at about 80% on.

The modern issues that give you a shot at autos. are always worth buying at a respectable price per pack/box. I think in the long run autos. will maintain good value over GU cards. They symbolize a personal connection with the player. Even common autos. bought cheaply may be a good buy, as people down the road may look to complete sets/team sets of autos. Just an opinion.

I don't disagree that autos are generally more sought after than game (and especially "event") used cards. That said, the manufacturers have devalued autographs a great deal with them being in virtually every product. If you want, for example, a Mike Schmidt autograph... there are currently almost 350 to pick from on eBay right now under the baseball card section. You can pick up many HOFers for less than $5 these days.
