What the heck Heritage

MarkMark Posts: 3,587 ✭✭✭✭✭
At about 2 PM yesterday, I won a couple of coins in Heritage's auction. I got an email this morning at 9 AM telling me that the coins had been shipped. How can they be SO efficient?? I find this speed simply amazing!

I get that e-mail every time I win an auction.

I wouldn't expect to see the item Monday if I were you.

i win at least one thing in just about every major heritage auction (the special ones, not the Tues/Sunday ones), and in more than the past decade I have never even received my coins in 3 weeks from the time of wining.

Do you have a credit line with them? That is about the only thing that can account for this...other than their systems being completely broken or they are showing you favoritism (I don't think it's the latter two).

A couple of years ago in a Heritage auction, I won a coin late on a Friday evening and received the coin the next Monday. The latest that I have ever waited for a coin from Heritage has been one week.

My experience with Stack’s Bowers has been completely the opposite. It usually takes 5 or more days after the auction just to get the online invoice. Once I mail my payment and get an acknowledgment of receipt another week passes. They then hold my check for additional time waiting for it to clear even though I have been a long time buyer/consigner in SB, BM, Stacks, ANR and TT auctions. They eventually send my coins via Priority mail, though I have repeatedly asking that my coins be shipped by Express mail. Three weeks is the typical time to receive my SB winnings.

I do not have a line of credit with Heritage. As it happens, I am eminently likeable so I expect Heritage is showing me favoritism. image

I am a Legacy client, probably based on buying from Heritage for almost 20 years rather than the dollar amount of my purchases.

Re seeing the coins on Monday: I live about 2 hours from Orlando, so I have hopes I will see them on Monday. But they will need to be signed for and I'm betting that my daughter, who will be at home when they are delivered, will be concentrating on her computer games rather than the doorbell. So I predict that I will need to visit the Post Office on Tuesday. image

Summer FUN auction isn't finish yet. I guess they sent a message to me too that I do not have to bid on any more coins today; otherwise, I have to pay S&H twice image

When I worked for Harlan J. Berk, Ltd. we had Mail Bid Sales six times a year. Each sale closed at 5 PM, and by 9 o'clock we had every winning bid invoiced, packaged and ready to go to the Post Office first thing in the morning. Not as many lots as Heritage, by any means, but we cared about getting it done. Obviously Heritage cares as well.
