Preferably NON-ANCIENTS image Just kidding guys.

I'll start:

An example for my "on-the-side" set, a type set of chopmarked coins from western (non asian) mints.

Neat as a type coin with the inverted mintmark and assayer.

    Those maundies are stunning!

We picked this one up last week. Proof 1835 Quarter Anna, a little of the original lacquer remains but otherwise full red and FDC. Probably a 20th century restrike as the die polish is rather crude. Rare (we can only find sales of one other coin)

A coin of Homer! An 18 mm bronze coin from Kolophon, an ancient city in Ionia founded around 1000 BC by two sons of the Codrus, the last King of Athens. Colophon was a wealthy and powerful city for centuries, and is cited as a possible birthplace of the epic poet Homer; but it was conquered by King Gyges of Lydia in the 7th century and never quite recovered. The obverse shows Homer at work writing, with the name of a magistrate Apollas written at the left. The reverse shows Apollo carrying a kithara (a type of lyre), with the inscription "[Coin] of the Kolophonians". Minted between 190 and 30 BC

Some very nice coins all! Zohar that Theodosius is amazing. I also have much love for the William and Maria Maundy money. Even at a glance the design for British Sovereigns is so classic that it is easy to think it's from a century before. The British India coin fits right into my collection of that as well. I have seen a lot of what appear to be modern restrikes. Is this a recent phenomenon? I saw this coin and another coin posted in its own thread from Ajaan I think which looked to be a modern restrike of a Rupee and prior to this week I haven't run across any. Hmm.

I like the Spanish/chop marked coins. When I was young, Mel Fisher was doing marvelous things off of the coast and I have never lost that fascination with pirate/colonial coins. I never bought any of those pieces because I was only about 12 in 1987 and they probably were inflated prices even then. But Coin World and what not covered the bejesus out of it.

I don't collect DDR coins at all but that reverse portrait of the chariot has the execution of some if the finer medals I've seen posted by Cacheman. Very nice. I have a new farthing or two to post hopefully in the evening.

Does the piece have a brilliant finish or is it instead matte/satin?

It has the DCAM mirror finish. I just had the light hit it just right in that pic to show the gold color, which matches the pictures of some of the other sovereigns in my type set.

Chopmarked and in a Gennie holder, but very nice and likely a 55 or 58.
