Just bought a very interesting 1829 bust dime

It has very cool engraving on the obverse -

and the reverse confirms it is a JR-1 (extra large 10c) - an R-4 variety!

    Great details on a very tough to find variety image

    The engraving is cool too because it is slightly subtle and not detracting from the coin

    A bit drastic, don't ya think? Perhaps if it were engraved RECENTLY, the person should be criticized for damaging a nice historic item - but I'll venture it was performed not long after the time of issue - when it was just a dime.
