Does anyone here grade modern stars out of new product?

Mostly curious for reselling purposes. Just wondering what the market is like for new modern graded. IE non-rookies of guys like Trout, Jeter, Verlander, Puig and the like...

Just looking on ebay, I see that people have but dont seem to get much for bids.
  • Everyone is getting cards graded, just look at all of Prosteins and 4SC auctions!

There's usually at most one hot rookie, usually an auto. Second year and later garner little or no interest in what I have seen.

I think it depends on the card you are talking about. If it is a rare insert or autograph card, I think there is a chance you can make money by grading modern cards. If you are talking about base cards or low value inserts, I think those would be losing propositions for sure. Even base RC's of most modern stars are barely worth grading. For example, I collect Anthony Davis and Andrew Luck, both are in the 2012 RC class for their sports. I just won two PSA 10 RCs of Anthony Davis for under $9. That's less than it would cost me to have them graded on PSA's $7 special after shipping to and from Newport. Non-RC's are even worse. I will leave the grading to the big submitters and just buy them on the market. You can also get Andrew Luck RCs in PSA 10 all day for less than $20 and even $15.
