I still play this game = subbing commons in hopes of a brighter $$ future for the card when encapsulated.
My wife buys scratchers and plays Powerball once a week.....I submit to PSA. Neither of us are very good at it but it keeps us busy and every once in a while, we feel like the king or queen for a day when we hit.
One thing to note on your link below.....the 4 pages you reference all have some form of qualifiers and are followed by 10+ pages of clean 9's selling > sub fee.
I would say this practice is alive and well.
What I have a hard time believing is modern submits that come back PSA5 or less on common cards.....that one puzzles me!

Not so ... take another look ... I looked at the first page and SOME have qualifiers, but the majority do not.
STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
It really depends on the card~the higher pop 9s go for around $5 each, but there are a number of common 9s that bring much more. And if you get a 10 or two, you are way ahead.
Who knew that a Rusty Staub could be worth $500 in PSA 9?
But in many cases, unless you're a dealer, you are submitting cards because you enjoy that part of the hobby, or are working on a set.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
