He's referring to the fake reprint minor league Memphis Chicks card with the other photo instead of the real/original issue one.

Dan, HINT: Anything with Memphis on the Jersey is fake, as are some of the others (I believe).

    Link

ETA: See the one's in the team set to get an idea of the correct photo.

Sorry this bothers you so much. Those are my cards I have listed. They are the ones required by PSA for the Bo Jackson master set registry. All prices are OBO. This has been discussed on here several times before. If PSA knows they are fake why are they required in the set? Why wont they correct this? Why does PSA and BGS not grade the same variation? The true gold one I have for sale is the correct version right?

Where are all of them? I only see one over $20.

    Thanks,

i agree, you didn't create this phenomenon, PSA did by including it

this thread is not trying to blame the sellers, although if you know it's a reprint or whatever, maybe you should disclose it. i am just trying to inform people.

the correct versions one silver and one gold, has bo facing forward with "chicks" on his uniform. 5,000 silver sets were printed and 10,000 gold sets were printed. psa has graded several different versions, obviously mistakenly. i think in the pop report they should disclose the error and describe which version is correct. the pop report is obviously not correct because of this. i doubt there has ever been a 10 of the real version due to the print quality.

there are several others i know about also, the 1988 vermont griffey jr. psa has mistakenly graded a "reprint" version a few times which led to a few 9's unqualified. one of these sold not long ago for $350 or so.

Remember you started out saying people were asking "huge money" and that it bothered you - that's a pretty aggressive start wouldn't you say?

However, this is definitely a much better post - sounds like you're certainly one of the experts on this stuff, seems like PSA could learn a thing or two from you

I know you are trying to inform others and I am just trying to sell my cards that are required for the master set. That is all im doing. That is why the price is OBO. If PSA knows they are not legit why not make them optional in the set. Have you contacted them about this? I'm being serious, not trying to be a jerk. I am not that way. Do you have some type of creditable proof printed by a known publisher? If you do please send it to me and I will be glad to add it to my listing.

Personally I am a Bo Jackson card collector. That being said I want to have an example of every Bo card that I can get in a PSA slab. If PSA grades it as authentic then that's good enough for me. If it bothers you then just don't buy it and move on. Don't complain about it. Jack is a great seller on eBay and an awesome board member. So don't hate on his merchandise.

in 1986 i purchased the silver set version straight from the ball park. the only bo in the set has him facing forward with "chicks" on his jersey. the gold and silver version of these are the only one's beckett grades. the "chicks" version matches all the other cards in the set. the other memphis bo cards do not. find someone that has the whole set and buy or look through it, all the cards have the players facing forwrd with "chicks" on the uniform.

I originally "outed" the fake (Chicks on jersey) Jackson cards back when I was with SCD. The information was included in the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards back when the book included full coverage of modern minor league cards.

It was also included in some (maybe all) of the three editions of the Sportscard Counterfeit Detector.

Do you still have the article or info? Why will PSA not honor that?

I posted the text from one of my standard catalogs here on another thread about this. That catalog states the silver card with the Memphis Jersey is a fake and shows a picture of the card next to it. Jack is a friend and a great guy. I'm not an expert, however, it is my opinion that the other variations are not genuine although they are graded and slabbed, and for that reason alone collectible to some. Also, if you're a dedicated Bo collector, having these other photos not available elsewhere may appeal to you. In any case, PSA authenticated these and they are making the claim to the cards legitimacy alone. I would definitely take AUPT a.k.a Bob Lemke's (the name on the bottom of your standard catalog) word as gold. Pun completely intended...

  • Works for me either way. They are for sale reprint or not. If you're not interested please do not buy them. Until PSA changes the master set these are still counted and required for 100% completion. I'm not trying to cheat anyone and nor do I ever have the desire to do so. Now with all this cleared we can let it rest for another year or so until it pops up on here again.
    Thanks

everybody is right until they are wrong. this seems to be the position psa is in currently. i would like joe or a psa rep to at least discuss the issue and enlighten all of us. this is one of reasons i would like to have some message boards that are in direct contact with a knowledgeable psa rep to discuss and may be resolve these type of issues.
