Guys, meet Michael Schaffer. He is eBay seller windy_city_collection.
On June 10th, Mike bought 2 86-87 Fleer wrappers.
On June 15th, he bought 29 86-87 Fleer cards.
On June 24th, Michael used the items from the above two auctions to sell this lovely creation.
Notice that there is now a Michael Jordan included with the other cards and the pictures are are terribly blurry. Let's take a closer look at the MJ.
Not only is it a fake, it's one of the worst I've ever seen. The color is off and the print quality is horrendous.
I'm a skeptic and knew there was a slim chance this MJ would be legit. But I'm also a gambler and don't mind exposing people like this. After purchasing the pack I asked him if he was the original owner.
I opened a case and included all of the information I had. Here's his response.
Isn't he adorable?
This guy has also been selling some MJ signed jerseys. I'm not totally sure these autos are legit but I'm sure some of you can give a better opinion:
Jersey 1
Jersey 2
Jersey 3

Not even looking at the sigs but the stitching on them looks a hell of a lot like the poorer quality you see in Chinese counterfeits. Kind of like the 20 or so of them I wear during NFL season and don't care if I destroy them.
Compared to my real jerseys the stitching looks like crap.
<< <i>If you knew the sequencing was wrong, why did you buy the pack? >>
Because I have too much free time on my hands. I knew worst case it would turn into a post where I could expose someone and have some fun with it.
Thanks for looking out Evan.
<< <i>You've convinced me it's fake, so I'm just playing devil's advocate: what's your PROOF that it's fake?? Has a tpg said so? >>
Anyone that had this card in hand could tell. If you can't tell from the scans, the printing is very grainy and the colors are off. I own many legitimate 86-87 Fleer Jordans and can distinguish between fake and real easily when I have them in hand but this one is so bad that it's laughable.
Now, if you just wire $100,000 to my account in cambodia...

Typical signs of digital print vs. offset printing. Colors are not as sharp or solid as they are in offset printing. Also, the graininess usually comes from one of two things... either from the source (digitized scanned image) or the output (digital print). When you digitize something, you're basically converting it into a bunch of dots... and once you do that, you'll never be able to truly hide the evidence that it was digitized. At least not enough to fool someone into thinking it was printed from a plate or roller. It's been my experience that the majority of fakes out there show some signs of being digitized... although sometimes there's also another factor that makes it a dead giveaway.
the autos are all fakes, not really even close

Maybe you should introduce Michael to Ms. Ann Mixson, provided they promise to never procreate.
Threads like this have saved me from doing business with at least 3 sellers over the years. One of the many dividends of being a part of hobby communities like this.

I am looking for a Dallas Maverick jersey signed by Michael Jordan. Is there anyway you could make me one of these and sell it to me for $500 please? Pretty sad that you have such low character to scam collectors each day to make a living. I think the two wrappers for $3 and the lot of 29 cards for $31 was a great return on your investment seeing you pocketed $1000 for the homemade packs you created. I think your district attorney and Ebay will find this a great case to work on.

Bought a $4.00 vintage raw common and never received it. I contacted the seller and politely asked if it had been shipped because it was 2 weeks later. His reply was only "yes". Waited another week, no receipt so I filed with papal. The seller basically called me a liar by saying "yeah right" when I told paypal I did not receive the card. Avoid this tool. He's on a roll lately. The negs are flying in.
