Thanks WrestlingCardKing appreciate the response. Looks like I need to change the web page images to thumb nail size to speed up the load time. Just opened the page through the link I provided and it was rather slow. Using thumb nail size images on the page and full size images once clicked should help
EDIT OK I just fixed the web page to load faster using thumbnail images on the main page. Once the thumbnail is opened it will load the full size image in a new window
This is one of the coolest threads I've ever read here. Great little pieces of history and awesome research. Thanks to all for sharing pieces of your collections.
Edit to add... Abdullah's head looked just as awful 30 years ago. Geez. What did he blade with, a machete?
Can't remember were I read it but there was a story about Abdullah going to a casino and putting the chips in his forehead scars and scaring the dealers I'll have to try and find it again
Just finished my research on the last 18 Japanese wrestling tickets. Only 4 are Giving me trouble, pictured below if anyone (Sumo) can help me out.
Also updated my web page, now listed by decade, much better then Having just a long list on 1 page. Been adding Youtube video links to the matches I can find (click the TV to watch video). Now thinking about including scans of the programs that I can find to go along with the tickets. Last I recently purchased 76 US wrestling Tickets from the 40’s and 50’s so will probably update again with A US section.
1) AJPW 1977 NWA Champion Series Ticket. I was told the venue listed on the ticket says Souka, Saitama but the only Venue listed in Saitama for this series is June 6th 1977 in Omiya, Saitama ? If there is anything else written on the ticket like the day that would be a big help.
2) AJPW 1994 New Year Giant Series held at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan. Problem is there are 5 different Tag events (Tag 1,2,11,19 & 20) all held at the same venue Korakuen Hall so without something else to pinpoint the date I am not able to establish the day. Maybe there is something on the back or front that will help out ?
3) 1998 NJPW Best of the Super Junior V held at Korakuen Hall Tokyo Japan. Problem here is the Tag/Match list is incomplete (Missing the Tag info for 2,4,5,6, & 8) the remaining matches do not have any being held at Korakuen Hall so again I can’t establish date.
4) CMLL – JAPAN Sky High Legend again told ticket has venue listed as Kyoto KBS Hall but the only CMLL – JAPAN held in Japan listed is on Aug 15th 1999 held at OSAKA JAPAN ? . There is a date bottom right corner that reads 1999.8 which I assume is Aug 1999 and then another 8 I am not sure if that is the day or time ?
Since I had an error or two in the past thought I should post the other 14 tickets I just finished researching in case I had some mistakes. If anyone notices an error Please let me know

Picked up another 13 Japanese wrestling tickets. Will post pictures soon
I have been able to figure out most of The venues and dates but again have 4 that are giving me trouble. Any Help is much appreciated.
First is this 1986 IWGP Championship Series ticket. Told it has Chiba printed as the Location. Problem is there were 3 different dates that were held in Chiba but as luck Would have it they were all held at different Venues. Tag 3 - Togane, Chiba @ Junior High School Gym Tag 29 – Inage, Chiba @ Marinpia Sports Center Tag 30 – Matsudo, Chiba @ Athletic Park Gym If there is any helpful info on this ticket please let me know
Second is this ticket that was listed as OCT 1987 Fighting Spirit @ Chiba Don’t think its 1987 as there are no matches listed for Chiba that year The only year that it may be is 1988 as even though no listings for Chiba There are some missing events so it could be one of those Again any additional info printed on the ticket would be a big help
Third one is this 1985 Challenge Spirit ’85 listed as being held in Osaka But the printed info at bottom right does not match another ticket that I am sure was held at Osaka ?
Last is this 1983 Big Fight Series again listed as held at Chiba but Printed info bottom right does not match other Chiba tickets ?
First ticket is from the 18 June 1986 Card at Matsudo, Chiba Athletic Park Gym.
Not sure about the second ticket, although it is from Nagareyama, Chiba and from the Fighting Spirit Series. However, there were no cards in Nagareyama from the Fighting Spirit Series. Might need a little more work on this one.
Third Ticket is from Osaka and took place at Nichi (#2) Konoike Store Special Parking Lot Ring on the date you have listed. Weird, right? The Konoike stores are in Osaka.
The 4th ticket is from 1 May 1982 Big Fight Series in Urayasu City, Chiba.
BTW Think I may have figured out the second ticket “Fighting Spirit @ Nagareyama Chiba” Seems there are some errors in the CAGEMATCH Data base for the 1987 Toukon Series (Fighting Spirit), There are multiple dates for different Tag MATCHES 12, 13 & 14 with no matching date of 10/20/87 that PURORESU.COM’s has listed at Nagareyama Chiba. I suspect this ticket is from Oct 20th 1987,fairly sure of date. Not positive but suspect its Tag 12
I like the Butcher! Thanks again for sharing......

That one is a favorite of mine as well.
Happy to share. Its good for me as well as not much interest in these with my circle of friends so having a place to post and get some positive feed back is very much welcome
<< <i>Double check that last ticket. It's from Yoshikawa, Saitama....not Ibaraki. Others look good. >>
Thanks for the Heads-Up on the 1983 TOUKON series ticket.
Kind of ran into a wall on this one. I am fairly sure it’s from The 83 Toukon Series since Big John Studd was only involved In a couple tournaments in Japan, 1983 IWGP, 1983 TOUKON & 1984 TOUKON. All the IWGP Tickets I see have IWGP prominently written on the face of the ticket. Also the 83 TOUKON Series has all the pictured wrestlers in that tournament (Big john stud’ Steve Wright, Paul Blair, Eddie Gilbert) so again almost sure its from That series. Only problem I can’t find any at Yoshikana, Saitama ? Thinking maybe there was a last minute venue change to Sakado, Saitama As that is the only TOUKON event held in Saitama. Funny the auction Had it listed as Ibaraki I will have to contact the seller and ask if that was Just a mistake or if he knows something more about it.
The ticket says Yoshikawa City Gymnasium. This is what I found on the wrestlingdata.com website:
1983/09/16: NJPW Bloody Fight Series - Day 20 Yoshikawa, Saitama (Japan) 1. Fumihiro Niikura vs. Kazuo Yamazaki 2. Riki Bassan vs. Tatsutoshi Goto 3. Kuniaki Kobayashi and Black Cat vs. Nobuhiko Takada and Masanobu Kurisu 4. Kantaro Hoshino vs. Ryuma Go 5. Bret Hart and Tony St. Clair vs. Rusher Kimura and Isamu Teranishi 6. Osamu Kido vs. Seiji Sakaguchi 7. Dick Murdoch and Bad News Allen vs. Kengo Kimura and Yoshiaki Fujiwara 8. Riki Choshu and Killer Khan vs. Tatsumi Fujinami and Nobuhiko Takada 9. Animal Hamaguchi vs. Antonio Inoki
Thanks Sumo I did notice the 83 Bloody Fight Series @ Yoshikawa
Checked all the matches in that series but non of the following Pictured wrestlers Big John Studd, Steve Wright, Paul Orndorff, Brian Blair or Eddie Gilbert were part of any of the Bloody Fight Series matches.
The list of Guest foreigners in the 83 Tohkon Series seem to match up fairly well with pictured wrestlers on the ticket.
Seems I can’t put both together either no Yoshikawa or No pictured wrestlers
Do you have any tickets from the same series and year, but with different locations/cards? I'm wondering if they printed up a whole slew of tickets for the series with the same graphics, but changed the location....or if each card got its own ticket design? I'm wondering if that ticket might not have been issued...maybe they cancelled the card in Yoshikawa for that card. Interesting mystery.
I don’t have any other tickets from that series but I have noticed the ticket designs were not changed except for the locations on most if not all the different series events.
I did find this ticket from the 83 Bloody fight series, not the same venue but again I am fairly sure all the tickets had the same graphics so don’t think my ticket is part Of this series
I think you’re probably correct that this event may have been cancelled at that venue or possibly a late venue change. Ticket does not have seat numbers but also does not have the ticket stub attached which seems odd if it was never used ?
I have started to try and research articles on the 83 TOUKON Series to see if I can Find any mention of last minute venue changes or cancellations.
Been busy for a couple weeks and have not had time to research and scan. Spent a few hours over the last couple days putting together another batch, no time to add to my web pages yet but will add them here for now
Not sure about the “NO Seat Numbered” Tickets. I have always thought they were Non Issued tickets.
However I have one of the Y1500 Korakuen Hall Tickets and 1 Y1500 Kuramae Kokugikan neither have Printed seat numbers. Also noticed the Autographed Ticket posted on page 1 of this thread has hand written seat No. Seems odd all the tickets (3) Are missing the stub and do not have printed seating?
There is however a Y3000 from the same Venue and date as the one I have posted on My Web site (Kuramae Kokugikan dec 8) That does have printed seat info, only difference is the amount (Y3000).
Could be the Y1500 tickets were general (open) seating, Can’t be sure Until I find one from same venue and price with printed seating. Interesting research Project.
<< <i>I can't remember, have you found many with the stubs still on? Would be interested to know what you come up with. >>
No not many at all. My line of thinking is that a non-issued ticket should Have a much higher chance of still retaining its stub at least that’s how I have found it to be for USA Boxing Tickets (have many).
Could However be a Japanese thing were they remove the stubs as a way to invalidate the ticket but I don't think so as there are 3 full tickets with stubs still attached Posted on page 1 of this thread and non have printed seat numbers.
Just need a few more clues to hopefully figure it out

<< <i>Lou Thesz, Abdullah the Butcher and Jesse Ventura are all really cool photos to have on tickets..... >>
Agreed very cool
I do prefer the Tickets with the head shots over the others especially when they Are well known names. I did mentioned earlier in this thread I was only Interested in the pictured tickets but wanting a more rounded collection I had to change my collecting habits. Seems the earlier 1950’s & 60’s tickets don’t seem To include the headshots.
BTW Speaking of Lou Thesz here is picture of a newly purchased ticket its Lou Thesz & Karl Gotch (Goth printed on the Ticket) Tag Team (Only time in Japan I believe)
Vey Cool as It folds open to view the head shots. Can’t wait to Mat and Frame this one. Some Links at the end to Video and article on this match up

Ok here are the tickets I am having trouble with
1) AJPW 1977 NWA Champion Series Ticket. I was told the venue listed
on the ticket says Souka, Saitama but the only Venue listed in Saitama for
this series is June 6th 1977 in Omiya, Saitama ? If there is anything else
written on the ticket like the day that would be a big help.
2) AJPW 1994 New Year Giant Series held at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan.
Problem is there are 5 different Tag events (Tag 1,2,11,19 & 20) all held at the
same venue Korakuen Hall so without something else to pinpoint the date I am
not able to establish the day. Maybe there is something on the back or front that
will help out ?
3) 1998 NJPW Best of the Super Junior V held at Korakuen Hall
Tokyo Japan. Problem here is the Tag/Match list is incomplete (Missing the
Tag info for 2,4,5,6, & 8) the remaining matches do not have any being held
at Korakuen Hall so again I can’t establish date.
4) CMLL – JAPAN Sky High Legend again told ticket has venue listed
as Kyoto KBS Hall but the only CMLL – JAPAN held in Japan listed is on
Aug 15th 1999 held at OSAKA JAPAN ? . There is a date bottom right corner
that reads 1999.8 which I assume is Aug 1999 and then another 8 I am not
sure if that is the day or time ?
Link
It has Yakou Skate pool written on it, but is from Souka City in Saitama prefecture.
Ticket #2 is from January 2nd, 1994 if that helps.
No additional info for ticket #3.
Ticket #4 is August 8,1999 at Kyoto KBS Hall.
but could not remember why.
Thanks for the link. looks like June 17, 1976.

Second is this ticket that was listed as OCT 1987 Fighting Spirit @ Chiba
Don’t think its 1987 as there are no matches listed for Chiba that year
The only year that it may be is 1988 as even though no listings for Chiba
There are some missing events so it could be one of those
Again any additional info printed on the ticket would be a big help
Third one is this 1985 Challenge Spirit ’85 listed as being held in Osaka
But the printed info at bottom right does not match another ticket that
I am sure was held at Osaka ?
Last is this 1983 Big Fight Series again listed as held at Chiba but
Printed info bottom right does not match other Chiba tickets ?
Not sure about the second ticket, although it is from Nagareyama, Chiba and from the Fighting Spirit Series. However, there were no cards in Nagareyama from the Fighting Spirit Series. Might need a little more work on this one.
Third Ticket is from Osaka and took place at Nichi (#2) Konoike Store Special Parking Lot Ring on the date you have listed. Weird, right? The Konoike stores are in Osaka.
The 4th ticket is from 1 May 1982 Big Fight Series in Urayasu City, Chiba.
BTW
Think I may have figured out the second ticket “Fighting Spirit @ Nagareyama Chiba”
Seems there are some errors in the CAGEMATCH Data base for the 1987 Toukon Series
(Fighting Spirit), There are multiple dates for different Tag MATCHES 12, 13 & 14
with no matching date of 10/20/87 that PURORESU.COM’s has listed at Nagareyama
Chiba. I suspect this ticket is from Oct 20th 1987,fairly sure of date. Not positive but
suspect its Tag 12

Thanks for the Heads-Up on the 1983 TOUKON series ticket.
Kind of ran into a wall on this one. I am fairly sure it’s from
The 83 Toukon Series since Big John Studd was only involved
In a couple tournaments in Japan, 1983 IWGP, 1983 TOUKON
& 1984 TOUKON. All the IWGP Tickets I see have IWGP
prominently written on the face of the ticket. Also the 83 TOUKON
Series has all the pictured wrestlers in that tournament (Big john stud’
Steve Wright, Paul Blair, Eddie Gilbert) so again almost sure its from
That series. Only problem I can’t find any at Yoshikana, Saitama ?
Thinking maybe there was a last minute venue change to Sakado, Saitama
As that is the only TOUKON event held in Saitama. Funny the auction

Checked all the matches in that series but non of the following
Pictured wrestlers Big John Studd, Steve Wright, Paul Orndorff, Brian Blair
or Eddie Gilbert were part of any of the Bloody Fight Series matches.
The list of Guest foreigners in the 83 Tohkon Series seem to match up
fairly well with pictured wrestlers on the ticket.
Seems I can’t put both together either no Yoshikawa or No pictured wrestlers
were not changed except for the locations on most if not all the different series events.
I did find this ticket from the 83 Bloody fight series, not the same venue but again I
am fairly sure all the tickets had the same graphics so don’t think my ticket is part
Of this series
I think you’re probably correct that this event may have been cancelled at that venue
or possibly a late venue change. Ticket does not have seat numbers but also does not
have the ticket stub attached which seems odd if it was never used ?
I have started to try and research articles on the 83 TOUKON Series to see if I can

However I have one of the Y1500 Korakuen Hall Tickets and 1 Y1500 Kuramae Kokugikan neither have
Printed seat numbers. Also noticed the Autographed Ticket posted on page 1 of this thread has hand written seat No.
Seems odd all the tickets (3) Are missing the stub and do not have printed seating?
There is however a Y3000 from the same Venue and date as the one I have posted on
My Web site (Kuramae Kokugikan dec 8) That does have printed seat info, only difference is the amount (Y3000).
Could be the Y1500 tickets were general (open) seating, Can’t be sure
Until I find one from same venue and price with printed seating. Interesting research
Project.
<< <i>I can't remember, have you found many with the stubs still on? Would be interested to know what you come up with. >>
No not many at all. My line of thinking is that a non-issued ticket should
Have a much higher chance of still retaining its stub at least that’s how
I have found it to be for USA Boxing Tickets (have many).
Could However be a Japanese thing were they remove the stubs as a way to
invalidate the ticket but I don't think so as there are 3 full tickets with stubs
still attached Posted on page 1 of this thread and non have printed seat numbers.
Just need a few more clues to hopefully figure it out
Hope to pick up some 50's Japanese tickets but they seem
very hard to find so if anyone see's any for sale please let
me know

<< <i>Lou Thesz, Abdullah the Butcher and Jesse Ventura are all really cool photos to have on tickets..... >>
Agreed very cool
I do prefer the Tickets with the head shots over the others especially when they
Are well known names. I did mentioned earlier in this thread I was only
Interested in the pictured tickets but wanting a more rounded collection I had
to change my collecting habits. Seems the earlier 1950’s & 60’s tickets don’t seem
To include the headshots.
BTW Speaking of Lou Thesz here is picture of a newly purchased ticket its Lou Thesz
& Karl Gotch (Goth printed on the Ticket) Tag Team (Only time in Japan I believe)
Vey Cool as It folds open to view the
head shots. Can’t wait to Mat and Frame this one.

It really has and it’s mostly due to your help.
Seems to take just as much time to cut and make the plastic labeled ticket

I would not be doing it if I did not enjoy it not to mention it also provides me with
a way to keep me actively engaged in the collection while waiting for new items
to become available.
