    Pujols

The same card is listed from the last post in this thread.

No telling if it ever exchanged hands. The asking price is $2,500 higher now.

Edit to add: You bought it!
  • Yes, I do own it and want to now see what it is worth, any idea's? I listed high as I would be open on lower offers, just cannot figure out how much one of these things is actually worth here?

Are you selling it to raise funds to pay for your lawsuit against Panini?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • IF I sell am looking to purchase some other lower priced PSA 10's ...
  • Maybe get another few Russell Wilson White Jersey cards, lol.... just kidding. I just wanted to post to get a feeling for the exact value of this card, I have not actually seen one go to auction before, has anyone here seen one at auction?

I get the feeling these don't trades hands all of the time since it is a tough card.

You might be the last sale.

  • I am just not going to list as a regular auction, just will not do it.

You were worried about $600 or so on the Wilson cards.

I get the feeling you may have a large loss on this card. Why on earth would you buy a card this expensive and try and flip it two months later?

With EBAY and PayPal fees you need this card to move up a lot just to break even not mention you bought it in a Buy It Now fashion from an experienced card seller.

You didn't get a fire sale obviously.

  • I bought it actually under a "best offer" so I of course did not pay the asking price that was listed which was the $39,999 amount. So my listing price has flexibility on it here. If I do not get any bites on the card I will just keep it, just wanted to see if I could move it for some smaller value cards since they are easier to move than a larger dollar amount card such as this....

I get you didn't pay $39,999 but I would imagine you paid more then it would have gone for in auction and especially since you are concerned to list it.

  • We'll see what happens, was thinking about cosigning with PWCC or Probstein123, maybe down the road. If and when Pujols gets close/near to 600 the value will rise quite a bit ...

This is a tricky situation. You started a thread in disguise about your own card. If you list it with a third party there will be lots of eyes on the auction to begin with and I get the feeling you will try and play games with the auction as well.

I think you will have to sit on this card if you intend to sell and find a private buyer in a direct purchase.

Look I try not to be critical of anyone who posts on the boards but you are digging a quick grave. There are lots of people on the boards who can do easy internet research.

  • All I am looking for right now are honest opinions as to what sort of value this card has, that's all. And no I do not play games in regards to any auctions that I ever have had, be it with an auction I run or cards that I submit over to PWCC or any other seller.

That question seems like it should have been asked by you prior to buying it 2 months ago.

It was in the prior thread. Someone named Al who stated they are a high dollar card buyer said 10k to start the season and maybe 15k in late April.

I am guessing he paid much more then both of these figures.
  • Did pay a little more than the high amount listed.

i think this is potentially a case of buy the card not the holder...while a psa 10 is awesome on this card, the autograph can really vary card to card - i've seen many 9s with much better signatures and pujols is already a bit of a sloppy one in the first place

as far as value, i see PSA 10s of this card actually DECLINING over time as there's certainly unopened boxes out there and even raw cards yet to be graded

the 500 print run certainly helps, but that's still a lot of cards subject to eventual grading

also, while 600 is going to be significant milestone, i think what we've seen historically is that modern cards may spike temporarily at times but always back off from those peaks

i don't think 4X a PSA 9 is an unreasonable number, i just don't know how many people will be willing to line up to pay it?
  • Nope there are no more to be graded from any unopen packs as the was a redemption. What is out there, max 500 cards if that will be all that's ever issued.

fine, the point is that all 500 have not been graded yet so no one knows how many 10s there are going to end up being - i think it's a safe bet it will be more than 5 (per the april post)

how about that - current pop report shows 6 PSA 10s now

i see no reason why 600 hrs would set off any sustained increased interest in the card - maybe it bumps it for a short time, but not likely to last

cool card - good luck with it
  • Mesa - I'll start by saying this is a great card, iconic card, one I'd love to own.

That said, if we are being totally honest in today's market, I still think it's worth in the range I weighed in on in the previous thread somewhere between $10k and $15k. My rationale is PSA 9's are in the $3k range (one sold a week or so ago for $2999 in an ebay auction). And, Pujols has joined the 500 HR club which helps. However, as was pointed out in an earlier post in this thread, there are now 6 PSA 10's which impacts the supply side of the supply/demand curve significantly.

And true, it was a redemption card but one thing that can continue to change the supply of possible PSA 10's is dealers/collectors breaking nice PSA 9's and BGS 9's out of holders and resubmitting for bumps. If you track serial #'s like I do, you will note this has happened recently.

Good luck with your card! It is an all time classic card and one you should be proud to own.

Just curious, why did you buy this card, if you'd rather buy other less expensive cards?

Pujols is colder right now than he ever has been. He's clearly on the decline physically and there are concerns as to whether he's hit the wall with 8 years left on his ridiculous contract. He will need another MVP type season for this card to come close to approaching 15k again. It's not impossible, but it's not looking good based on his 2+ years in Anaheim. Even if you wait til he gets enshrined, you're looking at 8-10 years of steady decline in value, so the HOF spike will end up getting canceled out. I think right now you will have trouble moving this card at $10k, and by the end of the year you could be looking at $8k max.

    Don't shoot the messenger.

I hate to be the one to bring this up, because I know how these threads get derailed...

But, for my money, I can't justify buying any modern era baseball card for that kind of money, given the dramatic kill-shot card values take if/when someone is inevitably linked to PED's.

I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!

Hopefully you didn't pay to much more then the 15k.
  • It is a great card, one that I just had to buy. It is sitting in my safety deposit box so if someone gives me a good enough offer I may move it, otherwise all is good and will just keep it. The reason I listed the card so high is that its there for anyone who is interested, I would even be willing to trade rather than do an outright sale if anyone would be interested here........

15k is just a drop in the bucket of 200k

I agree with listing it high, you have nothing to lose. The only thing I'd suggest would be to list it somewhere closer to the bottom price you would accept. For example if your rock bottom is $15k I'd put it somewhere around $22,500. But either way I don't see any harm in having it up for all eyes to see.
