The "well-known" Penny Marshall game used Michael Jordan home jersey, signed with well documented provenance..Chicago bulls etc went for $50,000 in the heritage auction I believe.
Other documented MJ GU jerseys around $30k give or take.
Which would you rather have? Especially with the controversy whether these game used patches are even legitimate. It'd be interesting to know if that all-star jersey has come up for sale.
Very nice card. Aesthetically...awesome!! But $46k?
I'd rather wait for an entire GU jersey .... Better looking display. Jmho.
I get what you mean. I'd probably rather have the full jersey. However, cards and full game used items are just different animals. Think of it this way...Is it tougher to find this card or a Jordan GU full size jersey?
well, there's at least 23 of these cards out there and based on the size of that patch, i'd estimate someone could probably produce another 100+ cards from that cut up jersey? maybe more?
how many game used jordan jersey's are really out there? some of them have been cut into patches if you believe what the companies say (i'm not saying one way or another whether i believe them, simply saying they've represented that they're game used)
jerseys weren't like shoes, he didn't get a new one every game and he also wasn't throwing them in to the crowd like rodman
so to answer your question - there are absolutely fewer full game used jerseys available than there are these "types" of cards
I wouldn't lump this autographed jersey card in with the others. This is the first autographed jersey card and extremely hard to pull. It can't be compared to the autographed/jersey cards of Jordan in the past 10 years. This is an iconic card in the basketball world.
OF course there are fewer game used jerseys than auto/jersey cards of Jordan. But once again, this is not your average jersey/autograph card. I definitely think game used jerseys were tougher from 1993 on back. But the players went through a decent amount from 1995-1998. I'd compare this card to a jersey Jordan wore in an iconic game (flu game, finals game, boston playoff game, 1st game, etc).
This card can not be lumped in with similar "types" of cards.
The bids at the top look legit. I remember seeing the one go for over 30k in 2011. Interesting to read the consignor paid 35k for it 14 years ago.
