This actually sounds pretty good. Do they have an online version of this or is it only for apps? I'm one of those people that still does not have a smart phone.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

This is farmed out to an outside contractor.

eBay used to have a referral service called Trading Assistant. A seller like me could sign up and get a lot of referrals for people looking to sell their stuff for them. Suddenly last year they just ended the program without warning. I never realized how many people came in to my shop from those referrals.

The Valet service is done by an outside contractor, undoubtedly with a sweetheart deal for fees. They say minimum price to consign is $50, fair enough.

The kicker is that if your item doesn't sell, you have to pay $25-50 to get your item back. Think about this…if the contractor over-estimates the value of your $50 item and it doesn't sell, how many people are going to pay $25 to get say, a $35 item back? The consignor keeps the item, and sells it for whatever, pure profit.

I think I'll stick w/ Probstein and his rates.
  • The article doesn't state whether it is for collectibles.

They used to have eBay Drop Off Stores that did kind of the same thing.

    Agreed...Probstein is much better
