When we sell we are risking. When we buy we are risking. In between, ebay gives a phone number from the onset after a sell for those in "risk management". Write it down and call the person if you're "not sure".
Risk Management is right, above all. And communication is critical in every "relationship". Be them direct sales, or telephone sales and closings. This is old school.
i have read all the arguments and I can say that this is an old school scam that used to be run on mail order companies a good number of years ago. You could do multiple changes of address that would tie up the delivery and the buyer would be fully refunded in that time. Also what better way to make it look like nothing than to leave good feed back and do the same thing to someone else. It is the fact that the change of address was put in after the purchase and what appears to be right before the claim and this would normally tie up shipping for 2 or more weeks and they would have had the coins and a refund had it taken a couple of days longer. Of course they signed for the coins as the OP was diligent in his communication and would not want to be under investigation for mail fraud. If they really wanted to they could have done another address change after receiving the coins and stated they were not delivered to the correct address and had no idea who signed for them.

it could be easily explained by the fact that her daughter has the same last name and first initial/name. every now and then my mail will go to my son's address and his will come to me for that reason. he lived with me for a short while. it could be nothing sinister at all, just the SNAFU that occurs with the USPS mail sorting.

Not a good explanation considering the buyer initially requested shipment to a different address
