1976 Topps George Brett

Is this card really that hard to come by in PSA 8/9 condition? I guess I'm late to the party...but, wow. 76' Brett is worth much more condition-sensitive wise than the 75' rookie card.

It is very difficult. Often hard to find centered, and without snow on the background.

The snow and "print dot" issue is particularly troublesome with this card. I once opened a vending case -- and didn't score a single 9 on Brett cards.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

The PSA pop report shows 233 8's and 15 9's (no tens).

Plus the card was located in the upper left corner (R1 C1) on the sheet it was printed on so tends to be off center

I have a smaller sample size but have handled probably 15-20 Bretts pulled from high grade vending sets and the best one was a well centered 8. The rest were all OC and many also had snow to boot.

One of my favorite "needle in a haystack" cards from the 1970's. It's impossible. Snow and centering galore.

That being said, for the longest time the Pop report had 10 PSA 9's. That has bumped up to 15 relatively quickly so I'd say the ones that paid $3500-$4000 are not loving that increase.

Still, a very cool card to own. I used to own the nicest PSA 9 I've ever seen. PSA would not bump it and I sold it for a small profit. I kind of wish I still had that card

Great info, guys. This is truly a diamond in the rough card. At least for mid-70's Topps

Been looking for a great 8 for many years now. Still don't have one. Many of the 9s make the cut on a technical basis, but never hit the eye strong enough, IMO, to pull the trigger on the price. Clockwork had the best one. Apparently he regrets selling it; I regret not being the one who bought it from him! Luckily he has an insane enough collection to keep the melancholy at bay, LOL!
