Ship cover vs USPS ebay insurance.

I just sold something on ebay that is going to require insurance. I am not much of a ebay seller and rarely ever sell anything requiring insurance. Can anyone tell me if there is a preferred insurance between Ship Cover and USPS? I will be requiring signature confirmation. I seemed to remember a thread a long time ago that ship cover was the best for ebay. However I can't find the thread and not entirely sure I am remembering correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

I've never even heard of Ship Cover, but I should add that I'm an infrequent eBay seller. Only thread I could find on the U.S. Coin forum has virtually no info on it, just basically was an unanswered question: linky

If it were me, I'd stick to the USPS. Best of luck whichever route you take.

Ship cover is ebay's insurance service. I believe it is less expensive in some cases than USPS but there are more restrictions for items insurable than USPS and I believe it is null and void for packages shipped to California.

  • In the future, you might consider purchasing Collectibles Insurance. Good, even if you don't sell regularly. Lots of guys use them and I have never heard a negative review. They cover mail losses, so you'll never have to buy the inflated USPS rates again. Info here.
