Wheretheyaint? Anyone know who this is

I look forward in having other collectors email me about a possible trade or opportunity to buy, however in the past three weeks I have received six emails from a guy named Ben with Wheretheyaint.com. Does anyone know who this guy is? His email states that he loves my set and has cards that can improve my sets but he does not let me know what cards I need. When I respond back to the email to let him know what cards he has for me and a price and he does not respond.

Is this some nineth grader playing games or just someone trying to sell cards that he does not have?

If I'm not mistaken, it's some guy that emails people trying to broker deals. So he doesn't actually own the cards, and probably hasn't struck up a deal with the current owner of whichever cards you may or may not need yet. Just tries to be a middle man in the hopes of finding someone who will pay WAY over market or someone who will sell WAY under market so he can make a nice chunk of change.

I get those emails as well. I've always ignored them, so I don't have much to say about their operation. PM me to see if we can trade. I've done trades with others on here and it works out pretty well. My only limitation is that I'm fairly thin on PSA 8+ vintage inventory, though I do have a fair amount from the 70s and 1967.

I should email him back asking if he has a PSA 10 1952 Mantle.
  • I have had to not so politely tell Ben to stop e-mailing and calling me (where he got my info, who knows). After I had already asked him about 5 times to stop contacting me.

+1 - just a glorified middle man. Makes his money on selling cards that he doesn't own and buying them for less than he sold the cards for. Has virtually no inventory.

Is this the guy? Looks like plenty of inventory, but sky high prices.

His prices are double of the asking price , from what the actual owner has them listed for . ---- Sonny

Having inventory listed and actually HAVING the card is two different things. Pick a card at random and tell him you want to buy the card. I bet a dollar to a donut that he will email you back saying that he sold the card recently, but if you give him your want list, he will find what you are looking for!!image

If anyone wants to pay 2x, 3x or 4x eBay prices for a card, let me know and I'll find it for you. LOL

Occasionally he does list a card for a reasonable price and I have made a couple of purchases. My best deal was buying a 73 Curley Culp PSA 9 shortly after his HOF induction for $26 and flipping it for a nice return.

If he has a card listed you can usually find it on the actual owners site for less. Whenever he'd email me in the past it was just a heads up that Larry Mayer had new inventory, and sure enough I'd find it there for less.
Just another middleman selling inventory he doesn't have.
