100 Top Flying Eagle and Indian Cent varieties

EagleEyeEagleEye Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭✭✭
Also, The 11 Essential design changes in the Flying Eagle and Indian cent series.

These two articles lay out the design changes and top 100 die varieties. Some coins listed as die varieties by PCGS, like the 1857 Obverse of 1856, are actually design changes. Once these are elevated above a die variety to design change, then the top 100 die variety list can be made.

This was just published in the April 2014 Longacre's Ledger.

The Fly-In Club is having a raffle that will help defray their shipping costs. You can join and possibly win as well! Fly-In Raffle/membership application

Here is a PDF file of the article: Top 100 varieties

Cool list that is well put together. I like how you did top 10 and 20 lists to simplify everything. VAMs could take a lesson in the construction of your list.

Fantastic work, Rick! (But I just can't see the difference in the two obverse of 1857 varieties.)
    When in doubt, don't.

Thanks Rick. I plan to buy a few raffle tickets and join the Fly-In Club as well. I will also share the info on the raffle with the local SoCal coin clubs I am involved with as that may get you a few more.

    ttt

    Thanks.

This list was inspired by Micheal Fey's top 100 VAM's and Gerry Fortin's Top 100 Seated dime list. It was a long overdue, and I think separating out the design changes makes it much more understandable. I will try to get PCGS to adopt this list on their holders. And maybe NGC as well.
