Mercury Dime Varieties - ALL PCGS 67 FB - ALL SOLD - read last post however.

I bid on four Mercury Dimes for a friend, who was financially strapped after Christmas, at the
January FUN Heritage Auction.

I did this as a favor as he said his funds were low and that he would pay me back in a timely
manner. I expressed my desire to be paid back by March 1st at the absolute latest.

He mentioned he was going to sell some coins on Great Collections - which he did - in two installments
back in Mid February and again in Mid March. Both sales generated in excess of $5200 [ pre commission ]
...so, that was a net amount to him. More than enough to pay me back the $3900 he owed me for his FUN
purchases. I agreed to a partial payment after his February GC sale. He could pay the balance after the March
sale.

Weeks, then months went by and I did not hear from him, even though I sent numerous emails, PM's, Texts,
Voice Mails - and all to no avail. I gave him an ultimatum by text in mid May. I want to clear this up no later
than June 1st

I received a call on June 2nd saying he was sorry [ which I believe he is truly sorry ] and that he can now send
me $1100 towards what he owes me. He said he'll send a like amount the following week - and if I would agree
to those terms. I said, as long as you hold up your end of this agreement - I am ok with it. On Friday June 6th,
I received a cashiers check for the $1100. Great, I thought.

The next week, I get this story: " no one is paying me, money is tight, so, I can't pay you".
My retort back - by text was that that this was not part of the agreement I received the previous week.

I requested an additional payment by June 15 of $2000 - and the balance of the monies due by July 1st.
I told him point blank I did not care how he did it - I no longer care what financial problems he has. I have
my own problems to worry about. If I were wealthy, I wouldn't care all that much. However letting him float
for 5 months - interest free - and now be told I might never see my money. I am not alright with this.

I am not looking for a discussion here - I do not care to hear other opinions - I have been generous to a fault.
As they say no good deed goes unpunished.

    The auction has a couple of days left... Lots of page views...lots of trackers.

    I had one question from a potential viewer, he wanted to know if I had better
    blown up images of the DDO. Sorry to say, all I have are the images from Heritage.

    I plan on sending these coins back to PCGS for Variety Designation ( if they do not sell on eBay )
    then reconsign them to Heritage.

    If a certain Mercury Dime collector was looking for any of these coins, do not be shy, your money
    is as good as anyone else's. Makes no difference anymore about having to pay for the whole group.
    Just pay the hammer price of any of the four and I will ship the coin(s) to you, Insured with Signature
    Conformation.

    Well, seems as though a certain Mercury collector just isn't ready
    to do the right thing. It's a shame.

    eBay raised my selling limit, so, the last and least expensive 1937-S
    in PCGS 67 FB was able to get listed. It's a three day listing and will
    close with the other three coins on Sunday, at Midnight.

    Well, if you are interested in any (or all ) of these coins, please speak up
    here and you'd save me a few bucks on eBay fees.

    Thanks again. Have a good weekend.

    Thanks, CoinCast for the Bump. Much appreciated.

    The auction is over at approx. Midnight tonight.
    No bids - yet - not expecting these lots to get a
    lot of action because the die variety designation
    is missing from the inserts.

    All I know is that due to the fact no one has to pay
    a buyers fee on the hammer price now, I might get
    one or two sold. If not, then it's on to Plan B.

    Thanks for looking.....

    The four Dimes did not sell, sorry to say. I'm sorrier I was duped into
    buying them for a "friend" who I should have realized was financially
    unable to pay me back. Even when he sold off other coins so that he
    could actually pay me back, he elected not to. For what ever reason,
    I will never know - or will I ever understand. So be it. Learn from my
    bad experience. Don't cover some one's debts - even if you retain the
    collateral.

    I decided not to continue them on eBay, but I will hold onto them
    for another week before sending them to our hosts for variety designation.

    If anyone has an interest, please let me know. These are still being sold at Heritage's
    "Hammer Price" - pre the 17.5% Buyers Fees. Once the designations are attached,
    they will be relisted with Heritage after they are reoffered here. The price will be
    affected once the designations are in place however.

    Happy 4th of July.

    Thanks for looking at my Mercuries.
    Next week I'll send them back to PCGS
    ( and have the variety designation applied )

    So, if you are interested what so ever - please
    reconsider buying before I get even more involved
    with this than I have been.

    I would rather not have to have any more dealings with these four coins.
    I have reduced them below hammer price:

    1936 PCGS 67 FB now $380
    1937-S PCGS 67 FB (1) now $950
    1937-S PCGS 67 FB (2) now $ 850
    1939 PCGS 67 FB now $650

    Delivered prices - fully insured.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I will be at FUN next week. Table Number: 5 1 8
    I will be bringing the coins with me if you'd like to see them in
    hand for a closer inspection.
    I will be at Holsonbake Numismatics, Thursday and Friday only.
    The coins will be on display there, and the guys working the table
    for Glenn will be more than happy to accommodate you.
    If I do not have to deliver the coin and you pick it up at FUN,
    I will be able to reduce the price $20. further.
    Update:
    Looks like another friend has taken 2 of the four, and two Forum Members
    have contacted me for the remaining two coins. So, this six month ordeal has
    finally come to an end.
    To my other "friend" who I went out of my way for and was repaid with unsubstantiated promises,
    I have refrained from outing you by name. You have caused me financial hardship and even
    though you had the money to repay your debt to me, you ignored my numerous pleas for repayment.
    You are a sad commentary on what the greed of this society has produced. Shame on you.
    Your absence from these forums has been noted and your other friends have been fielding inquiries
    and just saying you are in a dark place. You've burned your bridges with me and I am sure you've
    done the same with others who are not as vocal as I am.
    Should you ever post in any coin forum again, I will make sure no one will miss out on your previous actions
    and your name (albeit withheld at this point ) will be well known and your picture shown and all the personal
    information I have on you.
    You messed with the wrong guy. EDIT: I can't bring myself to out you. You have your own problems and I won't add
    any more angst to your life. I have kept quiet as to your ID by many who have asked. I now have no problem releasing
    this information - if I am asked again. A simple apology for putting me in a financial turmoil would have been appreciated.
    I have received a few PM's from another collector who
    Another Forum Member has decided to take the last coin.
