    Beginning in 1969, Chuck Noll was the architect of the "Steel Curtain" and the first Steelers head coach to bring the franchise to a league championship game since the Steelers joined the league in 1933. Under his leadership the Steelers went on to win four Super Bowl titles.

    Noll selected defensive tackle Joe Greene as his first N.F.L. draft pick. He drafted quarterback Terry Bradshaw and Mel Blount in 1970; linebacker Jack Ham in 1971; running back Franco Harris in 1972; and wide receivers Lynn Swann and John Stallworth, middle linebacker Jack Lambert and center Mike Webster in 1974. All became Hall of Famers.

    Chuck Noll wanted to be remembered as “A person who could adapt to a world of constant change. But most of all as a teacher.”
