What card are you thinking of? I'm not super familiar with this set, but the key cards all seem to be there.

Mickey Mantle was not in the 1954 and 1955 Topps set if that is who you are thinking of.

Kaline, Aaron, Banks and Lasorda are there who is missing? Hall of famers all seem to be there.

Wasn't there a thread a while back of someone buying this set raw, from another seller or auction house, and flipping out because Mantle was missing or it was a reprint? Or was it a different set that Ted Williams was in question?

I'm also guessing that the OP was thinking of Mantle. Possibly too embarrassed to come back and acknowledge that? No biggie, I was a sophomore in HS when I found out Jethro Tull wasn't a man. image

As I am sure many of you know, in Sports Illustrated #2 there was a fold out of 1954 Topps cards that included the Mantle that never was.

My fault, I did not look at all the pics. But there was no mention of the Kaline in the text.

You didn't look at all of the pictures, but fired off a salvo, anyway?

Please, don't take this the wrong way, but I see way too many people that look at auctions, but don't look close enough and, much like the Ted Williams thread about the '54 Bowman #66 not being included, just assume things without asking or checking a little further.

The auction in question noted the graded cards and the flaw with the Mathews. Not sure why Kaline would need to be mentioned since no other raw cards were mentioned other than the flaw with the Mathews. As much flak as Kruk takes on these boards, the listing seems fine and is well represented with quality scans.

I wasn't trying to rip on Kruk Cards, just surprised that the Kaline card was not mentioned since it is one of the Big 3??
  • I had never seen that SI pic before. That would have been an awesome Mantle. Thanks for posting that.
