I wonder who else has passed that had a SLU made during their playing days?
He also had that notable error in 1989 Topps.

RIP Mr. Welch.
I was really happy to pull his auto out of the 2013 topps archives product a few months ago.

There have been several. Off the top of my head they are Bo Diaz, Allan Wiggins, Kirby Puckett, Donnie Moore, and Dan Quisenberry. I am sure there are more, can research it if anyone wants.
On topic.. RIP Bob. A very good pitcher for some dominant teams. Boy I miss the 80's.
RIP Bobby Welch. He fought a lot of demons, including alcoholism. I hope this is not related to anything along the line of drugs, but unfortunately when someone passes this young, and they have addiction issues in their past, it's the first thing that comes to mind.
That being said, he was a great guy and fun pitcher to watch.

Welch has two figures, 1989 and in the 1990 Award Winners set.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

Way too soon for him (or anyone for that matter) to go

EPIC
<< <i>I was a big A's fan growing up. This one was always of my favorite cards as a kid. RIP.
>>
RIP, I remember him as part of those great Dodger pitching staffs. That is a way cool card.
Always loved that 1991 Score card of his.
So, I happened to stumble upon a listing that was put up right when he passed: Not a rookie
Seemed like a questionable choice to try selling it at this particular time by duping someone who didn't know better about RC's but was into it because of the news, so I took a second and wrote to the seller "Bob Welch's rookie was a 1979 issue, 12 years before this one. Thanks in advance for revising your listing title to remove the word Rookie from it."
The reply I got back was "Hi, yes sir it is his first SI for Kids card issued, Thx"
Oh, thanks DeltaBravo, didn't realize every time an issue had the first card for a particular player made by them, it was an RC I guess that means there are 800 different rookies in the 1989 UD set then, etc.

<< <i>Pulled this from a pack Tuesday night. Checked ebay and it was a $5 card. It's going for much more now obviously. I planned on selling the card (along with the other hits from the case) at some point but I have no interest in profiting from his death. What would you do in this situation? >>
Continue as planned, you had nothing to do with his passing. Would you not sell autos of others who have passed? Like it or not, there's always a premium when they can't sign any more autos, but I would view it as more of an issue with the buyers.
