Mail Update

Sorry if this is a duplicate post, but I was experiencing trouble with the regular Mail Call thread.....

I received 2 separate packages in today's mail, 2 terrific cards, from 2 tremendous board members.....

Bought this one from board member LeagueLeader at a fair price. My first graded Clemente and my third graded 1968. Thanks Jack!

Got this one in my 4th trade with LarkinCollector. Kyle is a great dude and when I told him I'm building a Gino Cappelletti player collection he hunted this baby down for me. Can't thank him enough. What a great addition to my collection!

    Congrats on the additions, Dan!

As far as the problem with the Mail Call thread, I am guessing that you couldn't see your post... that's because on these massive threads, pages don't turn right away for some reason.

As a work-around, click on the last page, then increment the STARTPAGE in the URL by one and hit return.

i.e. - The URL is currently:

    http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=414190&STARTPAGE=543

    Make it:

    http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=414190&STARTPAGE=544

    Enjoy!

    Snorto~

I do too. The seller and I agreed that card should really be an 8, hands down.

    Nice Gino auto.

    Thanks,

What is that autograph card, is that a custom made?
  • Great card. For some reason, I've never really warmed up to the '68 borders on those cards. Just me though... Any Clemente is awesome.

It's from 2014 Tri Star Signa Cuts Football. New to me too. Apparently it came in the box already sealed in that holder. I told Kyle it looks better in hand than the scan he sent, and I think the same can be said of this photo. Doesn't do it justice. I like the career highlights listed in the bottom right.

Interesting. I sent Cappelletti a few customs a few weeks ago for him to sign. To be honest I hadn't heard of him till I stumbled on to one of those docs on the old AFL on the NFL network a few months ago.

I'm a big Pats fan. He just retired from being their longtime radio color commentator. He was a receiver and a kicker, and their all time leading scorer for about 30 years Til vinatieri broke his record. I don't know if you saw in the photo, but it's serial numbered 1/5.

Edited to add: the man should be enshrined in CANTON!

Yeah the fact that he was a kicker and received is what intrigued me. These are the customs I sent him.

    Dan,
Great looking Clemente! Love the graded vintage #1 cards.

Catching up on some mail to show off. First, my first TTM ever, received back Friday. Sent Steve Garvey 2 cards and he returned THREE. The 86 Fleer sticker is for me, the Score is for my 8 year old, and unpictured is a signed Diamond King for me ten-and-a-half year old. The creases are not on the Score card, they're on the sleeve. I think eventually I'll send in that 86 sticker for a red flip.

Next up is my third card for my 1951 Bowman Brooklyn Dodgers registry set. 10th current finest and I'm just getting started. My Father's Day gift, picked up from Steve Wilk for a fair price. IMO the only thing keeping it out of a 6 holder is a stain on the back. Check out the centering!

Thanks. The corners aren't great, but the color and centering are superb!

To tell ya the truth I didn't even notice the corners after seeing the colors pop.

  • Great centering and nice eye appeal.
  • Glad you like this card. I agree that it's a probably almost a 6 (probably 5.5) if not for that stain.
I guess you can finally put it in your registry since it's now Father's Day.
