First off let me say Kobe is freaking awesome. The guy is one of the best if not the best all around player in the NBA today, but he is no Michael Jordan. Many kids on this board don't remember what Jordan was like in the late 80's early 90's because they were just that, kids. All these kids know is Kobe. Kobe is their generations Michael Jordan. Which is completely understandable, but at the same time have some maturity about it and don't think Kobe is as good or better then Jordan.
There will never be another Michael Jordan. Kobre may be close in some eyes but his numbers and presense on the court are not ever worthy of Jordan's.

Look at Kobe's 4th-6th years stats ( very very good years for him) , now look at Jordan's 4th-6th year stats. Jordan has better numbers in nearly EVERY SINGLE STAT.
If you look at Career totals you will see Jordan's numbers completely blow away Kobe's career numbers.
Numbers speak volumes.
I know this board is full of kids whose opinions are not always clearly thought out with some proof other then my words are stronger then yours. So this should clear the air.
True he is young and true if he stays with Shaq for his career he could win more championships then Michael. Picture Kobe without Shaq? Could he do it by himself like Michael did for 6 Championships?? While winning 5 MVP awards?? I don't think so.

You should have let this drop because I am sick of the Kobe references on this board. Most of Kobe's fans on this board cannot have a spirited discussion on Jordan vs Kobe because they do not know NBA history and are front runners.
Anyone saying the Kobe is better than Jordan is a fool. Kobe would have been flunking the ACT instead of turning pro if Jordan didn't help save the NBA. Jordan lifted the entire league higher, Kobe is just riding with a good team and the best player in the league - Shaq.
Every commentator and sportswriter say that Shaq should win the MVP every year. I would listen to them rather than the fools on this board.

Second, I know we all loved Jordan, but it's not really fair to say at this point that Kobe will never be like Jordan. Kobe is certainly a lot farther along in his career, success-wise, than Jordan was at this age. It will all depend on Shaq and Phil Jackson - if they leave, Kobe will be another great player in the NBA struggling to win titles.

Hmm, I remember Jordan in his early years when he was dominating the league, and yes, Kobe Bryant is AS good as Michael Jordan. Even MJ said HIMSELF that Kobe reminds him of himself when he was at that age and Kobe even has more qualities than himself. Now, that's SAYING A LOT when it comes from the G.O.A.T.! Charles Barkley, Phil Jackson, Marv Albert, etc. all have said that Kobe Bryant comes as close to Michael Jordan as anyone else, and that's also saying a lot. Phil Jackson also said that Kobe Bryant has a more complete game that MJ had both on the offense and defensive side of of things.

Your right. Kobe Bryant is playing with a 7'1", 330 pound MONSTER as well! You think Kobe's numbers would be LOWER if Shaq wasn't there? I don't think so. Kobe would have FAR better numbers than that if it weren't for Shaq. As for Jordan, he was a great scorer, but who else was there to go to? No one. He didn't have a player like Shaq as Kobe does. If he did, his numbers would have been a lot lower as well. You have to think about the different situations instead of assuming one "exact" thing. Jordan was the ONLY player to go to until Pippen came along, so comparing those stats is like comparing apples to oranges.

This is regarding all of Kobe's success, all his playoff wins and all his media attention and etc. etc.
None of it would be there if it were not for Shaq. Someone else put it perfectly when they said Kobe would be another Vince Carter or AI if he was not with Shaq. That's the truth. Shaq makes that team. Without him Kobe is just another all-star in a league full of all-stars.

Good point. Jordan didn't have the leagues most dominating player (Shaq) since Michael Jordan. Here's a stat for you though.
Field Goal Percentage. Look at Jordan't before his championship era. He had his highest scoring average years during this time. He had no supporting cast, defenses knew he was going to shoot and score a lot, yet he still had Field Goal Percentages well above 50%. Kobe is happy to have 1 game shooting above 50% but to average that for a career? Kobe has Shaq to draw tons of attention from him and he still can't pull a 50% Field Goal Average for any season (post or regular).
Separate Kobe from Shaq and yes Kobe will have Jordan like numbers. Kobe could carry another team no doubt. But like I said at the end of my original post. Take Kobe away from Shaq and can he win 6 Championships?? And win 5 MVP's while he's at it?? I don't think so.
