Horse Racing Grand Slam

A Triple Crown would be an amazing accomplishment by California Chrome
but he could be the first to Win the Triple Crown and the BC Classic
if he decided to run. (To be fair the other Triple Crown winners never
had the BC classic to run in)

This would be an incredible story for horse racing and would
probably bring an amazing amount of new fans to the sport at least
for awhile.

Thank You,
James

I am cheering for CC to win the Belmont.

...as far as bringing new fans to racing, doubtful that that will occur. Casino gaming has pretty much smothered the high cost sport of kings.

I'm not sure about bringing actual dollars into the pools (like you
said casino gaming is taking most gambling dollars.) I was just hoping for a bump
in T.V. ratings and some more coverage on sports stations.

CC winning the Triple Crown would be a big enough story. Winning the Breeders Cup Classic would be difficult against older horses and the tough schedule.

No Triple Crown this year. Chrome had a clear shot at the top of trhe stretch but didn't have anything left in the tank. That last 1/4 mile is just too much for most horses.

Chrome's owner Colburn really demonstrated a total lack of class after the race, though.

If you're talking about horse racing, it's better not to worry about what generation you're in.

Being in Sacramento we feel a connection to the horse and the owners. Such a great story. Really sorry to see the one owner being such a bad loser. It sucks, you lost, move on! Don't cry about it. It is too bad Chrome couldn't pull it off though. Would have been very exciting.

I wonder how the race would have gone........if........only horses that ran in the Derby & Preakness could run in the Belmont!!???imageimage

It would be quite a short field as just three horses (including Chrome) ran yesterday.

Do we really need to lower the bar and further, though? Maybe we should give out honorary triple crowns to all horses who cross the finish line..

You are right grote15......this is the way it has always been, so to change the rules now would not be fair to previous horses.

But from what I have read .....the 3 races are run much closer together than usual for 3 year old's. Hence a fresh horse has an advantage over the horse that ran in the Derby & Preakness.

    Just saying.

Yes. The fatigue was quite evident in this triple crown attempt.
