wow, beautiful coin. I'm no expert at determining types of proofs but it looks more like a sandblast finish like the early 20th cent gold proofs than any other type to me.

Yes matte proof... What makes you question it?

It looks like it was bronzed after striking. Bronzing is typical of medals, but not too often on patterns. I believe what they did was heat the coin and then put it in a container with pulverized copper filings, sulpher and some other stuff. It would make the coin turn brown and make the surface matte.

And no die cracks I can see. The others are copper (all die cracked) and silver. So, would this be a unique bronze example?
