If a PCGS coin is upgraded does it retain the same cert number??

That is, does it retain the same number on the right side of the slash?

I understand the number after the decimal point on the left will increase to show the new grade.

When a coin is regraded or conserved, (no matter the outcome), the Cert # changes.

Only when a coin is re-holdered does the Cert# stay the same.

If you use the reconsideration service, and it upgrades, the cert # stays the same. At least the VERY few of mine that actually upgraded did.

Here is one I remember and you can tell from the old cert # now on the newer Secure Plus slab that it stayed the same. Cert # 02169112

Regrades all get a new cert # no matter what.
