I dug up this mag i had since 1983. Found some interesting things.

They had a top 10 list of rookies to invest in:

Leon Durham, Willie Wilson, Lance Parrish, Steve Kemp, Jim Kaat, Joe Morgan, Bruce Sutter, Paul Molitor, Johnny Bench, Phil Niekro

And Top 10 Over-rated rookies:

Ron Leflore, Ken Singleton, Ted Simmons, Dave Parker, Cesar Cedano, George Foster, Gary Templeton, Ken Griffey, Rich Gossage

They also had Ron Guidry and said for a guy with barely 100 career wins, his card is sure worth a lot (it was listed at a whopping $4.50)

I can't see why Aaron would be less than Rose. I guess collectors cared more about active players back then.

My 1991 Beckett has Aaron at $1250 and Rose at $650.

The Bench stands out to me at $10 wow..and Koufax $34

As much as I would love a Rose rookie, I'd much rather have 216 Ripken Traded.

I like to see the old magazines and the price history. I am trying to figure out what is the best way to add long term value to my collecting.

The Mantle had a minus sign next to it so maybe the month before it was 825 or 850. Guess people were thinking it was too pricey at the time.

Can you imagine investing in a nice condition mantle rc and seeing it go down in price and panicking..thinking what the heck was i thinking spending all this money for a card and thinking it could lose more value in the coming months
